"The truth is Karat... you're not actually my daughter."

"Oh really, who would have known."

Karat knew she was never her mother's child when she first remembered her early life. It was evident when she went to get tested for her age and came out a year younger than Trunks. She would have to be older due to her father passing before Trunks' did. Did it bother her? Of course not. Her mom would always be her mom.

Now that she was 16 and old enough to know the truth, Chi Chi had shown her the pod that she landed on Earth with. Similar to her father's back in the day. Playing around allowed her to see the logs her biological parents left her before they sent her off to some nobody planet. Her mother had been a Saiyan scientist before planet Vegeta succumbed to Frieza's wrath. Go figure. That explains why she seems way smarter than the average Saiyan.

Not that she had much to compare to besides Trunks or Gohan. Both of them were already smart prior due to past experiences. Plus, Trunks had to be some sort of genius being born from one of the most brilliant minds on Earth. But, hearing her mom's stories of the full-blooded Sayians, like she presumably was, made her seem like some sort of saint. It also explained why she wasn't as adept at fighting as her peers her body was built for more thinking than fighting.

Or she just sucked at fighting.

Regardless, her birth mother had left her with all the knowledge she had before she passed in the plight.

With her knowledge of the technology, she had been helping Bulma out with the birth of humanity's greatest feat "the time machine." With this invention, it would hopefully change the world they were living in now. They had not told Trunks in case he would downright refuse to use it now that they could harness the power of the Legendary Super Saiyan, but it was necessary in Karat's case of seeing her father's strength. There was no better way to learn than from the greatest.

Co-testing the machine with Bulma was one of the hardest nights that she had to go through, especially because of the teasing comments coming from the woman's mouth.

"Karat, what do you think about my son huh?"

"Cute? Charming? Daunting?" Heat trickled down her cheeks. Trunks became less annoying as the years passed, and they didn't have petty banter as much as before. His face still did get on her nerves, though, always trying to be better than her at everything. But, she couldn't deny he was growing to be quite cute. It was probably the gasoline fumes that clouded her mind at the time.

"We don't need a time machine, Mom!" Trunks yells as he walks into us testing the invention. "I can go Super Saiyan now."

"I told you he would say that, Bulma! You owe me a meal."

"Trunks, remember Gohan was once a Super Saiyan as well, no need to be cocky."

The radio stirs in the background and the dreaded Andriod alarm rings out. Another attack this time in a city called Bridgetown 13 clicks from their base in West City. With no turn of his head, Trunks rushes out of the building ready to take on the duo.

"I will come with you this time Champs," Karat yells towards the teen who was already out the door.

"I hate it when you call me Champs, K" He yells back. She follows them on their flight towards Bridgetown. Once they arrived there, it was a barren wasteland with everything in ruins, the atomic duo did know how to wreak havoc on cities.

"Let's see what we have here sis, a pair of blonde wannabees," 17 says to his sister. "I wear blonde better and don't even have to raise my energy for it," 18 retorts.

"I can end this!" Yells Trunks. they both rush the siblings in their battle-ready stances. Even with their combined power, it was hard for them to keep up with their aggressor's dynamic moves. It was harder to keep up with them now that Gohan was gone, even with their boost in power. The two didn't even look like they were breaking a sweat.  Not like they could sweat anyway, but it was like they were merely toying around with the teens.

"Your sword absolutely sucks Trunks, we are getting our ass handed to us," Karat tells the other teen. "I don't think we'll win."

"That's for sure," 17 adds.

"You are not a part of this conversation, weirdo," She bites back.

"You know what? I'll end this fair and square," 18 says as she sends a large blast of energy at the two on the ground. It was definitely over for the both of them. As they lay unconscious on the floor, there was no fun for the siblings anymore and they flew off to find other fun.

Beep.

Beep.

 Beep.

Trunks had awoken to the sterile-like environment of the rebellion clinic. Looking over at his mom sitting at his side, he knew what he had to do. Save Goku.

"Mom... I'll use your machine."

"You don't even know if you still have your limbs under there you goose," Bulma explains to her son, "How do you know you can pilot it?"

"Think about Karat, she hasn't even woken up yet."

"Oh, I've been awake this whole time! You finally came to your senses Champs, great idea!" Karat giggles.

"So Mom, how do you know that having Goku would change everything? Is he really that powerful?"

"It's not that he's just powerful, Goku has this incredible feeling about him. When you're with him you just know everything is just going to be fine."

"I can't wait to see Gohan again," the two speak up.

"Jinx." Karat bursted. A small sigh escaped Trunks' mouth, "I don't owe you, Jack."

"And I'll get to see my father," Trunks breaks the tension between the teens.

"Well, don't count on your father to do anything," Bulma Sighs.

The teens look straight into the ceiling, lucky to be alive and hoping for that time to be fully healed and ready.

A couple of weeks in the care unit allowed for the teens to be right back in shape ready to travel to see their fathers. It had been both of their dreams to see them once in their lifetime in action, and although Trunks would never admit it, he was grateful he came to his senses.

"Here's the medicine for your father Karat, and remember the details of when he should take it."

"Thanks, tell my mom I will be back in a bit Bulma."

"And Trunks," Bulma turns to her son, "Take care of Karat for me."

"Whatever," he says as his eyes roll.

They both jump into the machine with the time-locked to year 764, and with a wave to Bulma, it is off to save humanity yet again.
