Everybody in their life must have tasted the bitter flavour of betrayal, at least once. Some might share about their experience with the professors who were lovely to them all the time yet ended up giving them 0 in their viva or assignment. The others may quote how their best friend promised that they would show up on time but they backed out in the end.
Others might explain how life betrayed them when they wanted an admission to their favourite university or get their dream job but couldn't get one because of so and so reasons.
Betrayals could range from anything but what common it held was the harsh memory that remained inside us forever.
Betrayals were hard to forget and forgive. I was not a forgivable person. If someone did me dirty, they surely didn't deserve a glass of water before they died, in my perspective.
Trust was something that was still easy to build, but difficult to maintain. Consistency was not available in this generation. Everybody was different on a different day.
I might be polite today but no one could compete on my rudeness the next day. The circumstances of life, the drastic changes, unexpected results and uncertain situations had built me this way.
Just like how life was, unpredictable, humans were like that too, or maybe they had learnt to mould themselves like that.
I was in my trance when I saw Andria standing up along with her husband.
"Let's call it a day, I am tired! You all continue!" she said with an apologetic smile and went off with her husband.
"I need to leave too! My mom has been calling me!" the girl Taehyung introduced to me as Ana said.
Soon almost everybody left and we were left alone. I wanted to stay with people for now. Being in a group when I was sad helped me somehow, it made me feel secure.
"I shall leave too!" I said wistful.
"No, please stay! Everybody left! You can't leave me now!" Taehyung whined.
"I know I am unemployed currently but that doesn't mean I am not busy! I need to leave!" I gave him a short smile.
"Stay for tonight, you have never stayed at my place!" he said standing up.
"Taehyung!" I squealed surprised when he picked me up in his arms.
"Let's watch a movie together! I am bored and totally not planning to fall asleep tonight!" he said and I couldn't say anything.
Maybe at some point, I didn't want to be alone for now.
"When did you get this LED?" I asked in amazement when I looked at his TV on the wall which hardly showed any part of the wall. It was so big.
He dropped me down and smiled.
"You mentioned you always dreamt of watching a thriller movie on such a big LED at home, so I bought it! I thought to gift you one but then I fit it here as it will give me a chance to have these movie nights with you!" he said and I covered my mouth with my hand at his thoughtfulness.
"You are going to be a perfect boyfriend for sure! You are doing great at practicing!" I patted his back.
"Thanks for the compliment!" he dryly replied and opened the TV. I sat on his cozy carpet before he sat beside me.
The movie started and I didn't realize when I started taking the drinks Taehyung was pouring for both of us.
Red wine was my favourite. Classic and comfortable. I just couldn't say no to it.
