“Quick, dodge!” I yelled. We rushed to the edge of the makeshift arena the monsters had us trapped in. The heads exploded in contact with the ground, and the shockwave knocked Kyrah off her feet. I was of course prepared and managed to stay upright. I hadn’t gone on impossible quests and waged a war just to be taken down by some mutant Wither, or three for that matter. I could have taken the three Wither Husks out in minutes, but I didn’t want to leave Kyrah or provoke the rest of the Wither Husks. They seemed to be toying with us as a cat toys with its prey. Anything sudden could set them off, and that would be the end of that.
As the sunset, and it got darker, the Wither Husks seemed more and more impatient, moaning and groaning in their guttural way. I desperately looked for an escape, but all I saw were more and more and more of the abominations. We wouldn’t have time to mine our way to safety, and we were surrounded by sand that would just collapse on us anyways. We certainly couldn’t run. What could these monsters want? The colossal army wasn’t sent out just to kill us two, that was for sure. They must be planning an invasion of some sort. With an army this size, they could definitely conquer the entire western half of the continent by lunchtime tomorrow, Diamond Code or not. This was getting more and more serious by the second. The three Wither Husks sent out to fight us were about to launch another barrage of explosive zombie heads. I had to act quickly. I racked my brain for any sort of plan but fell short. An idea came to me, but I wouldn’t – couldn’t – do that. I shifted my gaze to Kyrah, who was just now standing up. I looked into her terror-filled eyes and realized that I didn’t have a choice. I had to try, even if it didn’t work. I quickly grabbed her hand and began something that would change her life and the world. Forever.
