Ruby smiled as she held Alice's hand as they stood waiting on the bus for their field trip when Alice gasped

"What?" Ruby asked.

"Mike newton just asked Bella to prom."

"Ew, that is so gross. They really deserve each other though" She laughed. Jasper chuckled.

"She turned him down. Told him that Stressica likes him" Jasper said.

"Stressica?" Ruby asks

"Because she stresses everyone out" Edward says as he wraps his arms around Ruby, who laughs at his comment. She turns to face him and smiles.

"You're cold" Edward says to his mate

"I'm alright" she dismissed, but Edward lead her onto the school bus

They sit on the bus, rubys head resting on Edward's shoulder as he holds her hand.

"You forgot your jacket" he says to her. She nods

"I did, but it'll be fine." She smiled

"You mean you'll be fine because I'll end up giving you my coat?" Edward asks, to which Ruby nods her head.

Edward takes off his jacket and wraps it around Ruby. She rests her head on his shoulder as Jasper leans forward.

"Mate Hogger, give me my pretty lil buttercup"

Ruby smiles and turns to look at the Major.

"Hi, Major" Ruby smiles

"Well, hi there, buttercup. Why don't you come on over here and sit with me?" He smirked as Alice sat beside him

"As much as I would love that, how about on the way home?" Ruby smiles at her southern mate, and he nods in satisfaction.

Ruby leans her head against Edward's shoulder, offering him one of her headphones as she plays her autumnal playlist. Edward kisses her head gently, smiling as her mind wanders.

"Why are we going to a greenhouse again?" She asks Edward, who looks at her with a smile. He had answered this question three times already.

"Because it furthers your education, ma fleur." He says, making Ruby roll her eyes slightly.

"I so should have skipped today. I just want to be cuddled in bed."

As they get off the bus, she takes Edward's hand as they walk into the greenhouse.

"Your sister is infuriating", he almost growls. Ruby frowns

"More than usual?" She asks him

"It's the fact that I cannot read her thoughts. She's up to something, and I don't know what yet. It's making me anxious." Edward explains.

"Oliver can't read her either. It's like there's a block," Ruby responds and slips. Edward catches her

"Careful, my darling." He says gently, kissing her head as Alice calls her over. She heads over to her pixie-like mate, turning to see Bella talking to Edward.

Jasper wraps his arms around her waist.

"Help him out?" Ruby looks to Jasper with pleading in her eyes

"Already on it, buttercup" he winks, focusing on calming Edward down.

Ruby watches as Bella slips. Edward lets her fall, merely side-stepping and continuing to listen to the lesson.

"That was rude, Eddy", she mutters, knowing he can hear her. Edward looks over and smirks.

As the field trip comes to an end, Ruby walks with her twin to the bus,

"You've been awfully quiet the last few days. Wanna hang out tonight?" Red asks her twin brother, who nods.

That night, Ruby laughs loudly as her brother mocks a guy in his class. She misses moments like this, where she can just sit back with her brother and laugh together. She admittedly felt guilty; she had been spending all this time with her mates, and she hadn't made time for her dad or brother.

Charlie shrugged it off, which she knew he would do. He says he is a busy man, but when he had a day off, he and Ruby would spend time together. They both know that time off for Charlie is few and far between. 

Ruben, on the other hand, well, he was always one who preferred solitude, not in the fake mysterious way Bella did, no, Ruben thrived in solitude, often highlighting the fact that he didn't particularly like people. But he did enjoy spending time with Ruby and occasionally her mates, that is,' when they weren't kissing her. 

"I've missed this, us hanging out all the time," Ruben admits, making Ruby drop her jaw. She crawls over to her brother and places her hand on his head. 

"The hell are you doing, red?" He asks her in confusion.

"Are you feeling okay? You went sentient." Ruby says, making the red-headed boy roll his eyes. 

'Very funny, Ruby." He sighs. Ruby smiles gently at the stoic teenager.

"I miss this too" 

Ruby groans as she sits in the cafeteria, her head pounding. Emmett's hand is on her forehead, between the table and her head.

"Thank you, portable icepack." She mumbles, making the vampire smile. 

"You're welcome, sweet cheeks," he purrs. 

Edward walks into the cafeteria, holding a camomile tea in his hand for Ruby, when Bella stops him. 

"Eddy, a few of us are going to the beach-"

"-No", he cuts her off and walks to Ruby, setting the tea in front of her. She looks up and smiles at him. 

"Thanks, Eddie bear", she says genuinely as Emmett kisses her cheek gently. 

"Can't we ditch the rest of the day?" She pleads, to which, surprisingly, her mates agree. 

Not wasting any time, she picks up her things and leads Alice to her car, Rosalie tagging along. 

To say that her soul-fathers were shocked to see them home early was an understatement, but upon hearing about Ruby's migraine, they understood.

Miraculously, after a full joint, Ruby was feeling much better, sitting on the sofa, Alice leaning on her, and she began saying strange things. 

"Racecar. What a strange word." She starts, making Caius and her mates frown.

"Why is that a strange word, princess?" Caius asks his daughter

"If you spell it backwards, what do you get?" The stoned human girl asks, making the vampires think for a moment

"Racecar spelt backwards is racecar, " she says as she sees the confused look on Jasper's face, making him chuckle. "Words, they're so weird, know what else is weirder?" 

"No doubt you'll tell us, pretty girl" Rose smiles as Ruby sits up

"Fingers are just little legs for your hand. I have a question!" The redhead cuts herself off. 

"If we have pitchforks, are shovels just... pitch spoons?" 

Caius looks at the girl in genuine concern. How on earth was this girl his soul daughter?
