Knock.  Knock.  Knock.  Knock.

Alice Mia woke up to the sound of knocking. She rubbed her eyes, still feeling a bit drowsy. Stream of lights were pouring down from her window to her carpeted bedroom floor, lighting up her bedroom more. She noticed that it was morning already.

Suddenly, memories of what happened last night came back, destroying whatever serenity she experiences every morning.

"I must have fallen asleep while I was supposedly guarding myself," she silently assumed.

Knock.  Knock.

She forgot about the knocking. She then got up, and scurried away to answer her door.

She looked through her door's peephole, and saw, like, three guys dressed like police officers. They didn't look like someone who'd try to hurt her and it seemed like they've got something important so she opened the door.

"Are you Alice Mia Cohen?" one officer asked.

"I am sir," She answered, unsure of what to do next.

"Do you know Mrs. Bertha Barnett?"

"Um..yes sir. She's my neighbor, if you're looking for her she's just right next door," Alice pointed to an old-looking house with paint peeling off on its sides, everything looked fine in Mrs. Barnett's house except that it was surrounded with yellow barricade tape that states 'CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS' in big bold letters. Also, Mrs. Bertha's house was crowded with a lot more cops.
