Chapter Five:

~Isabella's Pov~

“Bye boys!” I call over my shoulder as I walk towards Ashlyn's car. “Bye Isabella! Bye Ashlyn!” Liam calls after us. Ashlyn waves to him and blows Harry a kiss. He smiles and pretends to catch it and held it to his heart before blowing one back as we got in the car. I've always loved her car, which is why we take it everywhere. I have my own car but mine is just a dull blue Nissan. She has a stunning purple Challenger that she always keeps clean. “You two are so adorable.” I blurt out as she buckles her seat belt. “Huh? What?” She questioned as if I surprised her by my comment. “You and Harry. You all are the cutest couple ever.” I gush causing her to smile and pull her long blonde hair behind her ear. “Thank you.” “How long have y'all been dating again?” “Two years next month.” “Awe!” I exclaim “ I wish I could find someone.” I pause. “Well, someone else.” She patted my shoulder trying to comfort me the best way she can while driving. “You will hun. You're a sweet, kindhearted, and nice girl.” She assured me. “And not to mention one hell of a looker.” She joked trying to make me feel better. I half-heartedly laughed which made her smile. Things stayed quiet for a little bit. Nothing but the soft hum of the radio and the cars zoom pass. I watched street and car lights streak across the window and the moon seemed to follow us, it seemed to light our path. “Do you still love him?” Her question startled me. “Yes, I wish I didn't but yes.” Her mouth formed into an 'O' shape but she kept her eyes on the road. “Is that what you were thinking about earlier? Is that what made you cry?” I hesitated before answering. “yea, you and Harry remind me so much about how Niall and I used to be.” I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. We can-” I cut her off. “Ashlyn, it's not your fault. I just need to move on. You and Harry have been nothing but helpful. For example, Harry still wants to kick his arse for me.” She laughed, “Well he is your cousin. So, he is going to stand up for you. What else is family good for?” “That's about it.” I teased as we pulled into her driveway. “Has he still not given you a reason?” She hesitated with her question. “No. I mean I haven't really given him a chance to either. We haven't really talked since we broke up.” She thought for a minute and was quiet as she unlocked the door. “Maybe you should talk to him. I was shocked, she knows I can't do that. “I-I can't” “Why?” She pushed. I looked at her, confusion in her eyes. “I just can't find the words to say.” I told the floor. As soon I said that she gasped and I looked up. She looked excited, like she had an idea. “Well, I do.” My eyebrow raised in confusion. “Wh-” I didn't have time to respond, she was dragging me up the stairs. “Let me go, I can walk on my own!” I screeched, kind of laughing, still really confused. “Give my your phone.” She demanded. Without thinking, I took my phone out of my pocket and placed it in her hand. She glided her fingers across the screen unlocking it. “What are you doing.?” I nervously asked. She just giggled and keep doing what she was doing. I noticed she was scrolling through my contacts and she stopped on one and started punching the number in her phone. Handing me my phone back she pressed talk on hers. I looked at screen and looked back at her, shocked. I stood , frozen, as she pushed the speaker button on her phone. “Hello?” The other line answered and she smirked at me. “Hello Niall.” She spoke calmly into the phone. “Ummm, may I ask who is calling.?” His adorable Irish accent on the other line was hinted with confusion. “Let's just say I'm a friend of yours.” She looks at me. “Well, was a friend of yours.” “Okay? What do you need?” I could tell he was puzzled. “Well, I have a couple questions for you.” He was quiet for a few moments until he spoke again. “Alright, what are they?” She got a really stern, serious look on her face, while I was still frozen where I stood. She cleared her throat and forced me to sit in the bean bag chair next to her bed as she sat on the floor. “For starters, are you single?” My curiosity peaked at the question, just praying the answer would be yes. “Yes, but what does that have to do wit-” He stopped himself.” Did Zayn make you call me?” I shuddered at his name, he gave me the creeps. “Ew! No! I don't talk to that kid.” Ashlyn informed him in disgust, causing me to laugh to myself. “Oh, okay. But, yes I'm single. He chuckled. I missed his laugh. “Alright, next question. Why?” “I'm sorry what?” She rolled her eyes and simply replied. “Why?” “I don't understand.” He stated. “Why what?” “Why did you do it? Why did you break up with her?” “Her who?” “Isabella.” She told him. “Isabella Hampton?” He questioned and his voice cracked. My name sounded so beautiful but so foreign coming out of his mouth, in his voice. “Yea, her. Why did you break her heart?” Nothing came from the other line, just silence. “I didn't want to. I had no other choice.” “What do you mean?” She pressed. He sighed, “It was my mum. She forced me to. I didn't want to hurt her because it broke my heart to see her cry. I loved her then and I still do now.” My heart was falling apart at his words yet piecing itself back together at the same time. “That's all I wanted. Thank you. Goodnight.” “Wait! Who-” Before he could finish she hung up the phone. “There's your answer.” She spoke as if it were no big deal. “I loved her then and I still do now.” His words just repeated over and over again in my mind. “He still loves me.” I whispered barley audible. “What are you going to do?” She broke me out of my thoughts. “I-I don't know. I do still love him. But, I don't think I can trust him enough to let my fall again.” “But I thought you said he still has your heart?” Her voice concerned yet sarcastic. “He does, but I don't know. My heart is confused. It wants him yet it wants to push him away. To forget about him.” “Well, just let his words sink in. I'm going to take a shower.” “Alright, have fun.” I mumble as she walks into the bathroom. I still remember the first time 'I love you' ever came out of his mouth.

“Just get out!” I yell at him. “Izzy, I'm sorry. Just please calm down and listen love.” “Are you serious? You're so stupid Niall! You expect me to calm down when you won't even tell your mom we're together?” We are standing in the living room of my empty house. “I Just don't know how to. She never liked the fact of me having a girlfriend. That's why most of the ones I've had she never knew about.” “It's not that hard to walk up to her and say, 'Hey mom, you know Isabella? Yea she is my girlfriend!' I mean come on man!” He said quiet, staring at the floor. “Fine. Fine! Since you can't tell her. We're done! Get out!” His eyes widen at my words. “Leave!” I screamed again and this time I was crying. He walked over and lifted my chin but I pushed him away. He pulled out his phone and dial a number. Who could he be calling in the middle of this? He doesn't need a ride he lives right down the street. The dial-tone rang until whoever he was calling picked up. “Mum, I'm dating Isabella Hampton, I've been dating her for the past five month and I plan to keep it that way. I don't care what you say or think. Bye now.” She started to talk but he hung up. I was shocked, I couldn't find any words to say. I look down at the ground again and he lifts my chin. “Look, I'm sorry. I should have told her sooner. But, I did now and I'm glad. I love you and I don't want to lose you.” My mouth hung open at his words. He told my he loved me. I've been waiting for him to say those three little words. I smiled and kissed him on the cheek. “I love you too Niall.”

I smiled at the memory but my heart was aching. I was so lost in memories that I jumped at the sound of my phone ringing. I looked at the clock, it read 11:34. Who could be calling me this late? I scramble out of the bean bag chair and find my phone on Ashlyn's bed. I looked at screen and gasped, it can't be. It was flashing 'Incoming call: Niall Horan'
