Chapter 4: Sparks of Rebellion

About a week has passed since that event happened. Cat Noir would barely talk during patrols every time Ladybug attempted to begin a conversation.

Tikki kept on suggesting to Marinette all day today that maybe her method of "protecting" Cat Noir from Akumatization isn't the best idea. However, the Kwami's Chosen kept telling her to trust her.

Marinette's train of thought was interrupted by a lot of commotion and people screaming.

"Tikki, spots on!" she said.

Ladybug then began to swing towards the source of the trouble with the aid of many others, mainly Carapace, Ryuko, Minotaurox, and Roi Singe. Although, Ladybug couldn't see whoever was the new Queen Bee. A short while ago, Cat Noir requested the Bee Miraculous, saying that he might have found someone good enough to replace Chloe.

Speaking of the cat-themed superhero, Ladybug just hoped that Cat Noir was going to help during this Akuma attack. He'd never let his emotions for her get in the way of saving others.

And as if on cue, she spotted the cat-themed superhero fighting on the top of the Akuma.

"I am Illusionist!" said the Akuma, "You can't stop me!"

"So he did come!" said Ladybug with a small smile.

Cat Noir then turned to see the "love of his life" standing there, looking happy apparently. He greeted her with a cold tone.

"What're you doing here?" he demanded.

"Haven't you forgotten that we're a team?" asked Ladybug.

She frowned as her partner scoffed. The irony in "His Lady." Cat Noir hated her for it. He was disgusted in fact. Is this who he's been following this whole time? An ironic girl who can barely fight, choose temporary superheroes over him and yet call him "irreplaceable?"

"Like you ever show it!" said Cat Noir, "Go home! There's nothing here for you to do!"

"Uh, excuse me?" asked Ladybug, offended, "I'm the only one who can purify the Akuma!"

"I can do this on my own!"

"No, you can't! Without me, you would've been a failed hero!"

Cat Noir's face then saddened with so much hurt and depression.

Ladybug then realized what she had said too late and covered her mouth as she felt everyone else's eye on her. She then saw her partner smacked off the tower where she could see some rubble following him.

All of a sudden, Illusionist raises a wand, making the world cloud in black. It looked like a black mist had devoured their site. Debris would fly around. Ladybug felt herself being pinned down as she saw four other Akumas all of a sudden appearing out of nowhere and hitting him.

And voices began to sound.

"Cat Noir, Cat Noir, Cat Noir." they whispered.

"You are nothing."

The first Akuma grabbed Cat Noir by the chest and threw him down as he punched him through what seemed to be debris acting like a floor. Those couple of words hurt him.

"Loser."

He tried to ignore them, but the pain was always getting in the way. He then felt the power of glowing electricity shoot him further down by the second Akuma. belong

"You're a freak."

"You don't belong here."

Those other two stung badly. A freak? Not belonging here? Why did that sound so accurate? Cat Noir then slammed into the floor.
