Chapter 10: An Akuma, and Round Two

Marinette froze in absolute fear.  Cat Noir just said it.  He just sang those  scary words of that horrifying lullaby that just kept on ringing in her head whenever she began to think about it.

All of a sudden, an explosion occurred, and people began to scream, begging for help.  Cat Noir lifted his head sharply and began to head for the area.  Tikki hovered in front of her Chosen's face.

"M-Marinette?" the Kwami asked.

"He just..." Marinette stuttered, "...h-he just s-sang it..."

"Marinette!  Listen to me!  Ladybug is needed right now!"

Marinette shook the Blanc nightmares away and looked to her Kwami and nodded in agreement.

"Alright, Tikki, spots on!" she shouted.

Cat Noir and Carapace looked at the damage in the crime area.  Queen Bee was still patrolling back at the Agreste Mansion, just in case if some members of Team Scarlet had any ideas.  

They heard Ladybug and Rena Rouge land behind them.  Cat Noir lifted a jar, showing the two that they had already taken care of the Akuma.  

"Here you go." said Cat Noir.

He then tossed the jar to the two.  Carapace then threw his shield at the it, shattering it to peices so Ladybug could use her yo-yo to purify it.  The shield then came back to the turtle-themed superhero.

"You're welcome." said Carapace for the two girls.

Cat Noir then bowed in mockery.  Ladybug grunted in annoyance before using her yo-yo to pull down a pole in front of the two "rogue" superheroes.

"I don't think so." said Ladybug.

"Round two, really?" asked Carapace, "You remember our last dance?"

"You won't be as lucky this time." Rena Rouge growled. "Good luck will be on our side this time."

"We'll see about that." Cat Noir chuckled.

Cat Noir and Carapace whispered a plan quickly while the girls just charged right at the two.  The boys then began to charge at the girls now.  The cat-themed superhero used his baton to extend it to push her more towards Rena Rouge.  His ally used his shield as a sled and jumped over his teammate once they crossed paths.

The girls tumbled back in surprise.  Carapace blocked every attack Ladybug threw at him.  

"What in the world made you choose this idiot's side?!" Ladybug demanded.

"Something a person like you can never understand!" replied the turtle-themed superhero. 

Meanwhile, Rena Rouge struggled to dodge Cat Noir's seemingly unpredictable moves.

"Thought I was going to be easy?" the cat-themed superhero taunted.

"Honestly, yes!" replied the fox heroine.

Soon, Ladybug finally found a way to beat Carapace.  She grabbed a sewer lid.  The turtle-themed superhero looked at her in confusion.

"Trying to copycat me?" he punned.

"More than that." replied Ladybug.

She then ran towards Carapace.  She then threw it like a frisbee at him with such strength.  He could see it coming in fast.  He then used his shield to block it.  Ladybug took advantage of the temporary blindness.  She then landed behind Carapace and knocked him down.  He lost grip of his shield as the sewer lid hit him on the head, knocking him out cold.

Cat Noir, in the meantime, was busy fighting all of Rena Rouge's illusions.  She kept taunting him, saying he couldn't hit her.  He found the illusion once he saw one of the copies suddenly trip.  The object tripping her moved slightly due to the actual force there.  Found you. Cat Noir thought.

He immediately ran to her as she got up.  She tried to get one of her illusions down, but realized too late that the saw threw her trick.  He kicked her in the pancreas, causing her to collapse.  

Cat Noir then grabbed her by the hair and lifted her up.  There, she saw Ladybug about to slip off Carapace's necklace.  She turns to see him threatening to reveal her opponent's girlfriend's identity to the whole world.

"Let's settle this between you and me!" said Ladybug, letting go of Carapace's arm.

"Yes, let's." said Cat Noir, just dropping Rena Rouge.

And soon, the real round two finally began.  Cat Noir would block Ladybug's moves with his own experience.  Sure, historically, Ladybug's the winner, and logically it's Cat Noir.  However, where Ladybug held the power, Cat Noir held the heart, the will to go on.  

Ladybug would throw a few good hits as she got more frustrated, however, Cat Noir still kept his cool.  She threw her yo-yo.  He caught it with his baton.

"That's all you got?" he asked playfully.

Ladybug grunted loudly before pulling him towards her.  She then twirled around, swing kicking Cat Noir in the face.  She pulled again, ready for a second time, however, Cat Noir already memorized the movement.  So he let go of the baton, causing it to hit against her forehead, stunning her greatly.

"Nice try, Lady-butt!" Cat Noir teased, "But it's gonna take a lot more than that to defeat me!"

"Yeah..." replied Ladybug, "...I need backup."

"Sorry, but I've got to be somewhere!  See you around!"

He then grabbed Carapace and began to hop away once some of Ladybug's backup showed up.  One of them grabbed Rena Rouge and headed home.  Ladybug, however, swung towards her former partner.

"Stop running!" she shouted.

"Stop chasing me!" Cat Noir shouted back.

He felt Ladybug's yo-yo wrap around his ankle once Carapace began to wake up.  

"Shelter!" he called out weakly.

And soon, a green ball of protection appeared magically around the two, shielding them from damage.  However, due to weak focus, it shattered almost immediately.  Cat Noir and Carapace both tumbled, soon recovering.

"Go!" Cat Noir commanded.

"But, Chat," his ally protested, "we need you safe-!"

"I need you, to go, now!"

Carapace finally nodded his head and began to hop away.  Cat Noir grunted as he saw Ladybug running at him.  She gained the upper hand and landed a direct hit at his chest, causing him to fall.  The two tumbled down the roof, eventually falling onto the sidewalk, surprising a few people taking a night stroll.

"This is pointless, Cat Noir!" said Ladybug, "You can't win this fight!"

"Yes, I can!" Cat Noir argued, "Williams is controlling you!  He's pressuring you!  Don't you see that?!"

"Don't you see how much danger you're putting Team Noir in?!"

"Yes, I do!   But they're still following my lead!  I wish we both agreed on the M.W.S.A.!  I really do!  But this isn't right!"

"You've always been so idiotic!  Since when did you ever get so smart?!  You were hardly ever like that!"

Cat Noir's eyes widened.  Soon, slits formed in those green cat-like eyes, showing his anger.  He then swung his staff at the person he once called, "partner."  Ladybug slammed into a trashcan where she saw him finally retreat.

She tried to swing after him, but she realized that he must've cracked her rib, or three.  Yup, she had to retreat.  She was just so frustrated she just wanted this war to end, how can it though?
