Both surgeons turned around in shock to see George staring, his mouth agape.
"Shit." Kate whispered under her breath.
"You slept with MARK? Why would you do that to yourself?!" George yelled.
"You have no right to judge me. You cheated on your wife!" Kate said, attempting to stay calm.
"That's irrelevant to this conversation. He cheated on you. He broke your heart. And you come back here and you SLEEP with him? Oh Jesus Christ. What is wrong with you? Do you have no self respect?" George yelled again. This time, more people around started to watch.
"George you're causing a scene. Can we talk about this later?" Kate said, trying to calm him down.
"No. Why should I talk to you? You clearly have no respect for yourself. You should be ashamed." George spat, storming off. Tears came to Kate's eyes and Derek went to comfort her but she swatted him away and ran away.
She found a supply closet and hid away in there. What had she done? She ruined her relationship with her brother because she had selfish feelings. She had a weakness and it was Mark Sloan. No matter where she goes and where she ends up, he was always on her mind.
After a while of wallowing in self pity, she heard the door open.
"Dr. O'Malley. Are you in here?" A deep voice asked gently. She sniffed and wiped her tears away and stood up.
"Hi Dr. Webber. What's up?" Kate said.
"I just came to check up on you. Apparently there was quite a commotion earlier on. Care to explain why?" He said, looking at the surgeon.
"George overheard a private conversation between me and Derek and went crazy. I just needed some time alone to calm myself down." Kate explained, sighing.
"I see. Well as long as you're okay now and are well enough to keeping working." Dr. Webber explained.
"Yes. I'm fine. I'm sorry. I should get to my patients." Kate said, sniffing again. She walked past the chief and went to the front desk for some patient charts.
She ignored everyone around her and just wanted to focus on her job and her patients. Why should she focus on other people when she needs to think about herself? She got to the front desk and looked for her patients' vitals.
