Gossip girl
According to the Catholic Church mortal sin can only be absolved through the sacred act of confession. But it looks like a certain wasp princess has recently found herself desperately in need of a little unburdening. And who is the man upstairs to discriminate?
I am exhausted. I was up most of the night with Willow but I think she just has a bad cold because she still has a fever and her nose will not stop running. I have given her a bath this morning and now we are in the kitchen eating breakfast when I see today's paper and the front page has a picture of Nate and his parents. Nate looks absolutely miserable, I just wish I could do something to help him in this situation. I look over at my beautiful angel and smile and her as she enjoys her breakfast totally oblivious to the chaos that her grandad has caused in the upper east side.
Nate's POV
"I don't know why everybody's making such a big deal out of this. It's just a misunderstanding. It will be cleared up in time." I hear my dad say. "Yes, it will, at your trial. This is real, Howard. The only reason you're not behind bars right now is because your wife could afford your bail." His lawyer tells him. "And I would have paid ten times that amount. You're not going to jail." My mom assures him. "And we are going to do everything that we can to make sure that doesn't happen. But in the meantime, this is not something to be cavalier about." His lawyer continues. "It's clearly a setup. Someone's got an agenda." My dad says. "Dad! Would you just shut up and listen to him?" I quickly turn to face the three of them. "Nate." Mom warns me. "Look, sir, what exactly do we need to do here?" I ask the lawyer. "Remain calm and give them nothing but a united front as we fight this." The lawyer instructs us. "Well, what about some sort of a- - some sort of plea?" I question. "A plea? You think I'm guilty?" My dad asks me abruptly. "Dad it's just a question." I try to calm him, "How would that work exactly?" I carry on. "It wouldn't." My dad assures me. "Nate, I'm sure you're very tired, and this is a conversation for adults. Why don't you go and get some rest, sweetheart?" Mom tells me in a patronising tone. I scoff and leave the situation to be away from my parents.
Evangeline's POV
Serena, Blair and I are all sat in Blair's room. It's been a bit awkward with Blair since her and Nate have broken up because obviously Nate is Willow's father so we are bound to be close. We are talking about Dan and Serena's relationship and how Dan told Vanessa private details about it. "I can't believe he told her you guys were gonna do it." Blair says as she starts picking outfits from her closet presumably for her birthday party later tonight. "Well, I told you two." Serena reminds her. "That's different, we're girls." Blair responds. "Yeah, well, so is she." Serena points out. "Exactly my point. But even if she wasn't, when you get a boyfriend, you become the best friend and the best friend becomes the second best friend. That's just how it has to be if it's ever gonna work." Blair explains. "Hey, you still haven't told me how Nate's doing. It's all over the news. " Serena says changing the subject. I tense up for a minute at the mention of his name. Has Blair not told her that they're over? "When I talked to him this morning, I told him to focus on his family today." She lies to Serena. I know she's lying because I talked to Nate this morning and he still hadn't talked to Blair since yesterday when they broke up. "But he's still coming to your party, right?" I question with a hint of sarcasm knowing that she was lying. "Um- I told him not to worry about it. I mean, only if he's up to it." She lies again smirking at me. "You're such a good girlfriend, B." Serena tells her. "Yeah, you really are." I mutter to myself. Serena gets up and gives Blair a big hug, "Hey, I'll just pick you up and the three of us can go together. But I really hope that Nate can make it." Serena tells her and Blair gives a weak smile in return.
