Gossip Girl

On the upper east side it's easy to think that the world is exactly as it appears. Refined, elegant, imposing. But sometimes, all it takes is a little key to open the door to the wild side.

"Why did you make me come to this?" I ask Serena as we sit on the side of the school pool. There is a party because someone broke into the school pool and now almost all the students in our year are here. "You need to have some fun. Take some time to relax. Ever since you had Willow you never have time to do anything fun." She explains. I roll my eyes, "That's kinda how it goes when you have a child. Your who life now revolves around them and their needs all day every day." I tell her. "How did you get mom to watch her anyway?" She questions. "I told her me and you were just going to Blair's for a girls night." I say remembering the excuse I made up so I could leave the house tonight. Chuck starts to walk over to us and I take that as an opportunity to leave so I jump in the pool and go over to Nate who is on the other side of the pool. "Hey." He greets me. "You good?" I ask him. "Yeah, fine. Have you noticed Blair acting strange lately?" He questions. "Not any more than usual." I joke with a small smile. He chuckles in response.

Later on we are all sat around drinking and having fun in the pool when there is a huge splash as a boy falls into the pool after hitting his head. Blood fills the water as people rush around panicked trying to help him. Nate dives I and drags him out, "help!" He calls out. "All right, someone call an ambulance. Call an ambulance." Dan instructs as people help to get the boy out of the pool. "Are you okay. You've gone really pale." Blair says to me softly. "Um..." I swallow the lump in my throat as I feel lightheaded and quite sick. "Come on, let's get out of the pool." Blair suggests and I follow her to the ladder at the end of the pool. I sit down on a pool chair and rest my head in my hands to try and stop myself from feeling dizzy. "Here." Blair says as she hands me a cup of water and sits down beside me, putting her arm around my shoulder. "Thanks, I just get a bit queasy around blood." I tell her. She nods in response and we watch as everyone hurriedly grabs their things and runs away. Soon after the ambulance arrives and we too get our belongings and go home.

Photos of last night are displayed on the screen as the Principal presses the remote to change the photos. "Thanks to the cell phone somebody left behind we've got plenty of evidence of who was at the party. Lucky for you, Andrew Collins is going to be fine. Unlucky for you, we need to hold someone responsible. Ms Queller?" He invites the woman sat down on a chair behind him to join him encoring taking a seat. "Hello. I'm Ms Queller, the new headmistress at Constance. It's unfortunate that we meet under these circumstances. But I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. I've already talked to your parents, at least those I could reach, and look forward to reading your personal essays. 10,000 words describing how you came to be on school property after hours using alcohol and drugs where a fellow student almost died. In other words, what the hell is wrong with you? I'll also be conducting one-on-one interviews until I discover who broke into the pool and initiated the party. That person will be expelled. If that person is not identified then you'll all face expulsion." Ms Queller explains. The room is silent after her speech until we are dismissed and everyone starts chatting about last nights events and who they believe started the party.
