The Earth

"Wait!" screamed Hope as I descended down to earth. Hope is my best friend, and has been for all 17 years of my life. We talk about the upcoming Christmas celebration, about what we will make for HIM on HIS birthday. I look down at the land that used to hold billions of humans. It's overrun by demons now. There are a few places that us angels are allowed to stay here, though. Places that demons couldn't enter if they tried.

When we arrive on earth, I am greeted by Samuel, my warrior mentor. "Are you ready for tomorrow's lesson, Faith? It's a big one", he says enthusiastically. I'm really looking forward to it, but I respond with,"Maybe. It depends on what the lesson is".  "You'll love it!" he says as he nods goodbye.

Every time I visit earth, I wish I could roam free in the demon territory, if only for a few hours. HE could have all of earth's land, but HE chose to let the people HE created to chose what happened to earth. They allowed the demons to take most of it. However, HE had given them a choice. They chose wrong. Most human souls were sent below, to the worst place in all of existence. Some, though chose to go to Heaven, above all the sorrow and pain. This is why we angels aren't allowed to roam free. If we were, we could possibly experience this feeling called pain. Some angels chose to turn into demons. I think that an angel would have to be out of their right mind to reject HIM.

However, it looks so freeing, being a demon. The rush of not knowing if you will crash and burn, or if you will live another day. Angels and humans alike are guaranteed eternal life. Angels aren't born, we just are. We are and always have been. I say I'm 17, Hope says she is 16, but no one really knows. No one except the ONE.

After briefly considering my next action, I say,"Hope, I need you to tell anyone who asks that I'm still in heaven". "Why?" she says, "where are you going?". "Out", I say. In the blink of an eye, I zoom out of the mahogany doors into the bitter chill.
