Day 29

I peer over at the sunlight greeting me through my blinds. There were some grey clouds lurking in the distance. It's only 6 am. I might have a shower to wake myself up.

~ 9 am ~

I decided to stop by the convenience store before heading to Jungkooks house. I want to buy some snacks and maybe some flowers for Jungkooks mother. I don't want to be rude. After getting what I needed, I headed to Jungkooks house.

*Knock knock*

I take a step back and fix the flowers in my hands.

"Hello again" Jungkooks mother smiles.

"Good morning" I bow and smile politely. "Sorry to bother you, I was wondering if Jungkook was home."

She cups her cheek as if in a dilemma "No honey, he didn't come home last night" she sighs.

What?! Shouldn't she be worried about her own child?!

"I'm sorry you had to waste your time coming all the way here. That boy can be quite bothersome" she laughs

I try my best to hide my disbelief. She was saying these things so casually. She had no idea that this might be his last day. I push away the ominous thought and force a smile

"I see. Thank you for your time. I hope you can accept these" I hand her the flowers

"Oh my, thank you", she gasps and accepts the flowers.

She asks if I want some tea but I tell her I have classes. We say our goodbyes, and I finally leave. My anxiety grows by the minute. I need to find this man. I start at the university and search the Art building and the cafeteria. I check the local park hoping he might be on one of the swings. I then head to the karaoke place we always go to. But he wasn't there. I tried to call him once more, but there was no answer so I sent him a message.

I scroll up the chat, I've sent like 20 messages and he hasn't even read them. I let out a loud sigh while leaving the karaoke building. The pitter-patter of the rain slowly getting louder catches my attention. I look up at the sky. Damn it, I knew those clouds were going to catch up. I check my phone for the hundredth time. It's 3 pm.

My feet were aching. I've been running around all day. My head was also killing me. I haven't eaten since yesterday and I haven't slept. Damn it. I grab my throbbing head, rubbing my temples to relieve the headache. I look down at my finger. There was no tugging. That should be a good sign, right?

I clasp my hands together and scrunch my eyes shut, praying for him to appear in front of me. I let out a sigh. Who am I kidding, it's not going to be that easy. My back slides down the wall until I'm sitting on the ground. Now that I'm not running around, I can feel my muscles aching. I feel so weak. I wanted to save him. I want him to be happy. My head lowers in defeat.

I'm so sorry Jungkook. I failed you.

That's when I notice a faint glimpse of the red string. I lift my hand, and the string trails down. It was floating straight in front of me. My eyes follow the string and noticed it was going to my right. Is this leading me to Jungkook?

I follow the string without hesitation. I was walking for nearly 10 minutes when I saw the string trialling into a building. That's when my eyes widen with a sudden realisation. I completely forgot about the rooftop! I immediately race for the building. I was drenched from the rain but I bolted into the building avoiding the stares from the people around me, and headed for the elevator.
