‼️TRIGGER WARNING SELF HARM/DEPRESSION‼️

BEBE

As the bell rings for the end of the day, Wendy walks up to me.

'Hey Wends, aren't you supposed to be at debate club?'

'I just got a really bad text from Stan.' Her eyebrows sink and her eyes narrow.

Red sprints up to me and grabs me by the arm enthusiastically.

'Sorry Red I can't go out with you right now Wendy just got a really bad text from Stan and we need to do something.' I genuinely feel bad having done this to Red but they understand.

'I have nothing better to do so if you need any help just text me' She starts walking away but Wendy is quick to hold her back.

'We definitely need help. Red, can you go find Kyle? He should be in room D4 for debate club.'

'Sure thing!' They jog off even though her baggy jeans are tripping her over.

'Bebe, it's Stan. He's drunk again even though he was a month sober. I know he has a horrible history of doing things like self harm and shit when he's drunk and I'm scared for him. I still care about him even though we aren't dating. Can you help?'

'That's a lot to take in but I'm up to it! I used to be best friends with someone who was just like him so I know what it's like'

Wendy flips her phone around me to show me her and Stan's text messages.

The last message Stan sent reads:
I'm fucked up Wendy I'm sorry for the shit I did to u
I'm messed up

A few minutes later Red comes back, dragging the red headed boy behind her.

Wendy then explains the situation to them and Kyle's expression becomes deeper as Wendy speaks.

Red stands speechless, their mouth wide open. She doesn't seem to have known about Stan.

Kyle is the first to start running, the others including myself following in his trail. We put our trust in him since he knows Stan best.

We reach the Marsh residence and Red tries to open the door by wiggling the handle.

'Shit it's locked.' She looks back at us.

Kyle reaches deep into his messenger bag and pulls out a key. He puts it into the door and it instantly clicks.

Wendy starts to speak.

'Okay. Kyle and I will go up and find Stan. Red, find a trash bag and put all of the empty beer cans in it.' Red looks disgusted by her job but also oddly determined. 'Bebe, wait outside his room with your phone incase... something bad happens.'  Her voice gets quieter.

Red jogs into the kitchen to collect what they need as I walk up the stairs behind Wendy and Kyle.

WENDY

I quietly open Stan's door and peer through the gap. I hear Kyle's heavy and panicked breathing behind my back.

I feel my hands trembling as I push the door fully.

Kyle is quick to dash past me to Stan's side. I look down and see the pale boy sprawled across his bloody bedroom floor. Beer dribbling down his chin and blood pouring down his forearms.

'FUCK! BEBE CALL THE AMBULANCE QUICK' Kyle yells out as tears pour down his cheeks onto Stan's limp body.

'Is everything alright up there?' Red calls up the stairs but gets no response due to the panic everyone is in.

I use my finger to wipe the saliva off of his chin. He scrunches his nose but still remains silent and unconscious.

His eyes are closed and his lips are slightly parted. The house feels creepily quiet and empty as of it was abandoned. In a way it was abandoned, Stan's older sister had moved out and Sharon was often working due to the fact Stan's dad Randy was an alcoholic.

I feel a deep sadness stab me in the chest as I look down at the boy with fresh red cuts up and down his arms.

Bebe walks into the room while holding her phone up to her ear. Her eyes widen as she sees Stan's bloodied up body.

'Oh he is bleeding a lot from his arms like I think it's self harm.' She speaks to the person on the phone.

She pulls the phone away from her ear to speak to Kyle and I. She tells us that the ambulance will be here in around 5 minutes or so.

Bebe then gets down on her knees next to Stan and reaches into her bag for her jacket. She places the jacket down on his wounds to apply pressure.

I notice Stan's body tense up then relax once again.

Watching Bebe sacrifice her favourite jacket to take care of someone she hardly knew drowns out the stress of this situation. My eyes zoom into her perfect hands that are now covered in blood.

Moments like these make me feel so grateful to have her as my girlfriend.

Minutes later sirens fill the air as doctors rush past us through to Stan.

I stand back huddled with Bebe and Kyle. Red suddenly appears which means she has figured out what has happened.

The four of us stand there silently as we watch people pull Stan's body onto a stretcher and dash out the front door.

I look over and see Kyles green eyes filled with tears. I don't think I've ever seen him this way before.

'Shit I didn't know it was this bad I wish I was there for him as much as he was there for me' He hiccups between sobs.

Red is the first to reach out and wrap her arms around his shoulders. She tightens her embrace as his cries increase.

All I can do is stand and watch, my body still full of shock and panic. Bebe suddenly wraps her arms around my waist and rests her chin on my shoulder. My whole body eases.

The group of us comfort each other though the silence as we leave the empty house and walk back to Starks pond.

We all sit there until it gets dark, then we separate. Bebe invites Kyle to hang out with us until Stan comes back and he agrees.

All that time at Starks pond reminded me of my first date with Bebe. Having her near me comforts me even after everything that  happened that afternoon.

These times make me realise how much I love her.
