Arlo

After meeting up with Robin after lunch, we walk to the next class that we have together: literature. Robin's mood is the complete opposite of mine today. I'm exhausted while he is bouncing off the walls. I can't help but let out a big yawn and rub my heavy eyelids that threaten to close while Robin chats my head off.

"Someone has a rough morning?" Robin teases me and I watch as his lips curl into a devilish smile and an eyebrow raises.

"Yeah, maybe. And what about you? You're so bubbly today."

Robin puts a playful hand on his chest and mocks a fake offended expression. "I am not bubbly," he scoffs.

I watch as he speeds ahead of me. He takes his long legs for granted while I use mine to shuffle slowly down this long hallway. I get a few shoulders from students trying to pass my lazy pace.

Once I finally reached the classroom I went and joined Robin at our shared desk. The sight of him catches me off guard. He leaned back with his legs prompted up onto our table. Does he not know this is a formal setting? This isn't even an act, this is normal for him, I can tell from the look on his face.

Cringing that I have to be seen with this idiot, I shove his legs off our desk and smack the back of his head before sitting down next to him. He lets out a protesting hiss but before he can argue I talk first,

"Would it hurt you to go a day without getting in trouble or drawing attention to yourself?"

The pain on his face is replaced with his signature grin, "I'm afraid it would be very painful."

"You're impossible.

"No, I'm Robin."

I groan.

"You sound like my father. He makes lame jokes like that all the time." I say as I image my father chuckling at his own jokes.

"At least I don't sound like my own father," Robin says to himself.

"What does that mean?" I ask confused and irritated.

"Nothing."

I don't try to carry on the conversation any longer but instead, I try to channel all my energy into not falling asleep.

I'm not focused on reality until my eyes catch Fox walking into the classroom. I forgot. Just then, as I suspected, Eden walks in right after her. The realization hits me that I'm not in the state I want her to see me in. To avoid her looking or trying to talk to me, I make myself look busy.

I move to grab my pen to pretend like I'm writing something and not staring into space. My plan doesn't work. I go to pick up my pen but my elbow comes in contact with my ink bottle, knocking it over and making it spill.

Panic rises within me. Robin jumps up to help but all he does is spread the ink further. I grunt as I try to fish my pen from the puddle of ink forming on the floor. It didn't help that my head hit the bottom of the table when I tried to stand up.

My chest feels tight and I avoid all the stares I'm receiving. Eden and Fox then rush to help the scene with towels in their hands. Fox goes and cleans the desk while Eden comes to me.

She asks if I'm alright and I give her a simple nod. I try to see if I can move away from her. She can't see me like this. But before I get a chance to, she takes my ink-stained hands with her towel and starts cleaning them. I freeze. Her brows are scrunched with concern and concentration as she rubs the towel over my hands.

"Erm, uh, thank you." That is all I manage to say.

It only took a minute but it felt like years before she flashed me a cute smile and turned to trash the towel.

My senses start to come back to me as the scene has calmed down and has been fixed. The sisters had gone back to their table and Robin had returned to his laid-back position. Everyone's attention wasn't on me anymore but on their previous conversations.

The teacher now enters the room, never knowing what just happened.

"Good afternoon class," she chirps, "My apologies for being late, the vet class had shut down one of the hallways because students kept setting on frogs. Can you believe that? What a wild day."

Robin lets out a laugh before quickly covering his mouth with his hand.

I didn't feel tired for the rest of the class because I was still so embarrassed about what happened. How could I be so clumsy? I looked like a fool.

Even though it looked like I was paying attention, I wasn't really listening. The only thing that caught my attention was the ending announcement.

The teacher ended her lesson and so everyone moved to pack up their things. Carefully, I grab my stuff.

"Oh yes! Students, wait just one second, I forgot about the news I was to deliver." The teacher says and comes to the front of the class with a stack of papers. "Our first ball is being held soon!" She excitedly announced, "I have all the information here, I hope to see you there!"

Excited chatter rises from the class and everyone leaves the room with an excited smile.

Right before I leave the room myself, I sneak a glance at Eden to see that she's already smiling at me. I can't help but return the grin. Does that mean she wants to go with me? My head immediately pictures us dancing together at the ball.

I push that thought aside, I'll have to ask her first, so I shouldn't get ahead of myself. She doesn't seem like she hates me and I know I had planned to space myself from her but I don't think I could bear going without her.

I'm going to ask her. I silently send out a prayer hoping everything will go alright.

I will be honest with myself, I didn't think I would get past three chapters. But here I am now, kinda obsessed with this.
