Dirty Sheets
Chapter 3, page 10
Author's POV~

The morning sun cast a warm glow through Adrianna's bedroom window, gently rousing her from her slumber.

As she stretched and yawned, fragments of the previous night's party danced through her mind, the memory of Santiago lingering in her thoughts like a sweet melody.

With a sigh, Adrianna sat up, her gaze falling upon the ring that adorned her finger and the one on her stand.

It was Santiago's ring, a symbol of the connection they had forged in the midst of a crowded room.

Deciding to start her day off on a positive note, Adrianna reached over to her nightstand and picked up a small bell.

Gently shaking it, she called out to her feline companion, Luna. The fluffy cat bounded into the room, her tail swishing playfully as she meowed in anticipation.

As Adrianna prepared to take Luna out to play with her best friend Yulissa's cat, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement tinged with nervousness.

She knew that Yulissa would want to hear all about the events of the previous night, including her encounter with Santiago.

When Adrianna arrived at Yulissa's house, she found her friend sitting on the porch, a questioning look in her eyes.

She was very pretty and always smelled fresh. What some people would call 'The Clean Girl' aesthetic.

Yulissa was always perceptive, able to sense when something was amiss. Adrianna took a deep breath, bracing herself for the conversation that lay ahead.

"Hey, Yulissa," Adrianna greeted, her voice filled with a mixture of anticipation and curiosity. "You won't believe what happened last night at the party."

Yulissa raised an eyebrow, her gaze fixed on Adrianna. "Oh? Do tell. Who was that guy you were with? I couldn't help but notice how intense you guys were eye-fucking."

Adrianna's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Santiago.  She hesitated for a moment before pulling out her phone and showing Yulissa a picture of him.

"This is Santiago," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "He's the one I was with last night."

Yulissa's eyes widened in shock as she studied the photo. "No way," she exclaimed, disbelief evident in her voice.

"That's Santiago? The same Santiago who used to live next door to me?"

Adrianna turned to face her directly, dropping her hand with the phone, a mix of surprise and curiosity washing over her. "Wait, you knew him? What was he like?"

Yulissa let out a sigh, her gaze distant as she recalled their past encounters. "Yeah, we were neighbors for a while," she replied, her voice tinged with sadness.

"But he got kicked out by his aunt and uncle. They were addicts, you see, and Santiago refused to pay for their drugs. It didn't end well."

Adrianna's eyes widened, a mixture of sympathy and concern flooding her.

She had no idea about Santiago's troubled past or the turmoil he had endured. Her heart ached for him, knowing that his journey had been far from easy.

Yulissa continued, her voice filled with uncertainty. "I remember seeing a woman at their place sometimes, but I never knew much about her. I didn't stick around for too long, to be honest."

Adrianna's mind whirled with questions, her curiosity piqued. She wondered who this mysterious woman could be and what role she played in Santiago's life.

But for now, all she knew was that Santiago had captured her heart, and she was determined to uncover the layers of his story.

As Adrianna and Yulissa sat there, their cats frolicking in the yard, they couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie.

They had stumbled upon a shared connection, a bond forged through their individual encounters with Santiago.

Little did they know, their paths were about to intersect in ways they couldn't have imagined.

The story of Santiago, Adrianna, and Yulissa was just beginning, and it was a tale that would test their loyalty, unravel secrets, and ultimately lead them down a path filled with unexpected twists and turns.

"Did you too ever interact more than just neighbors?" Adrianna asked with calm curiosity. Yulissa laughed at the girls sudden question.

"I actually dated his best friend. I don't know you know him, or if they are still friends or not but I'm pretty sure he lives near this area. " She said smiling looking forward, thinking if the young man.

"Oh that must have been fun considering what you would tell from that era of your life." Adrianna said with a slight grin.

Yulissa looked back down to her shoes, her smile going down as well.

"Yeah no, I remember it like the back of my hand. I think he started a family since the last time I saw him." She looked back up and turned to face her best friend, plastering a strained smile.

Adrianna suddenly felt upset at her dumb question. She was not a fool to realize that how bitter sweet her best friend was feeling.

Wanting to move on from the topic, Yulissa brings the cats and her best friend inside her house.

As they continued to talk about more things, Adrianna couldn't get her mind off of what her best friend had told her.

How could she have judged him at first. How stupid could she have been to not realize or ask about him.
