"Oh yes... I totally agree."

"Alright guys, that was good. However, Lyney, you missed a few high notes. Start again. Oh a Lynette, make sure you don't miss your cue." Navia had been giving her feedback on Lyney and Lynette's performances.

Lyney sighed. "Are the high notes really that necessary—"

"Yes. Don't worry, all the stans—y/n—will go crazy over it."

"Y/n isn't a stan!"

"Oh? But doesn't she own every album of yours while simultaneously possessing posters as well?"

"Well—yes, but..."

"Let's just begin again," Lynette interjected.

______

As the music faded completely, Lyney attempted to catch his breath after the long, (and high) final note. Somehow, Lynette looked unaffected.

"Don't blame me for the long note. Your lovely lyricist wrote the song, I'm just your director."

Damn it, Aether. Why'd you write it like this?

"I have to say, that run was much better than the others. Even the best one, dare I say. We can move on to the next song."

Lynette seemed tired. "How many songs are we going to work on today, Navia?"

"However many we can get through. We must improve them first before we can perform the concert, after all. I'm sure the fans will love the new album."

They better after we go through this hell.

"You may take a break. Tomorrow we'll have Charlotte take your cover pictures for the album."

Lyney sighed. "Okay."

______

Lyney stood beside Y/n as they talked by her locker during a small break.

"Oh! And there's leaks that Lyney and Lynette are releasing a new album soon! I'll definitely get tickets. Though, I hope it's not during the Christmas orchestra concert..."

"Hm... and what day is your concert?"

"December fifteenth."

I'll tell Navia that.

"You seem to be quite a fan of Lyney and Lynette, don't you?"

"Definitely! I've been a fan of theirs for a while. Ah, it must be so cool to share a unique name with one of the most famous idols of our time! Don't you think, Lyney?"

She means well, but that really stung.

"Oh yes... I totally agree. I'm surprised I never get mistaken for him, or Lynette never gets mistaken for... well, Lynette."

"I know, right? Well, you are a tad bit nerdier than idol Lyney, after all."

"Ouch."

"No, in a good way! It's kind of cute, especially with the magic tricks."

He froze, hearing his heart audibly beat in his ears. Embarrassingly, he could feel his cheeks burn.

Calm down! She wasn't even trying to flirt! Oh God, why is she so oblivious to what she says...

"Ah- um- thank you."

Her compliments are nothing compared to the fans online.

But why? Why did her compliments make him feel all giddy and vulnerable?

Why?

Maybe because she practically said I was cute as she knew me instead of just calling me cute as an idol...

Maybe because I...

Don't finish that thought.

"You okay, Lyney? You look like you have a fever," y/n had a concerned look on her face, pressing the back of her hand against his forehead and cheeks.

"I'm fine! I'm probably just sweating from the school's broken AC." He never thought he'd be thankful for the school's crappy appliances.

"Oh, it's broken again, right? I forgot about that. No wonder it's felt so humid and unbearable," she said, taking her hand off his forehead.

"Back to what we were saying," she continued, "would you come to Lyney and Lynette's concert with me?"

I wouldn't exactly have a choice whether or not I'm at my own concert.

"We'll see. It depends on the day, really. If it's during your orchestra concert, I would go to your orchestra concert instead."

"Aww, would you really?" She laughed, hugging Lyney. "You're the best."

Holy shit, I think my heart rate might be going into tachycardia.
