—One day, the first of Eve's sons could not come to an agreement. One day, Cain rose up against Abel and bled him under the midday Sun.
[KARMA]
MONDAY MORNING, I woke up early and opened my blinds to let some early morning light shine into my room; then I rolled off the bed and headed into the bathroom with my phone, having Siri read and respond to my messages from Chet and Alex while I was showering.
Mom had already left for work and Kaitlyn didn't join me for breakfast, only tramping down the stairs once we were ready to leave, a deep scowl on her face.
"Um, Kait?"
"Don't."
I sighed, grabbing my keys and stuffing my phone in my pocket before leaving the house. She was waiting in the car with a deeper scowl and the drive to school was silent, not that I really minded.
My guess is Kaitlyn wanted to spend time with Ashton last night and I prevented that.
Still, I'd rather her feel bad now because otherwise she would eventually be crying on my shoulder later about some lobster haired boy who broke her heart.
Besides, Mom said she wasn't allowed to start dating yet, and if you ask me, we're doing boys everywhere a service by keeping her out of the dating world because Kaitlyn is clearly unstable.
When we arrived at school and I pulled up in a free parking spot, she bolted from the car, still fuming and I rushed after her, hoping not to draw any attention. I caught up to her in the main hallway as she was getting her books from her locker. She saw me coming and slammed her locker closed before she quickly turned away.
"Kaitlyn-"
Before I could finish, she bumped into a boy and her books went flying.
Her eyebrows knitted angrily as she glared at the boy like he'd just murdered the stuffed panda she still slept with in secret.
"Give me a concussion while you're at it!" She snarled at the clearly terrified boy, although their collision was partially her fault too.
The boy was left apologizing profusely, fixing his glasses as they'd fallen down his nose, while also trying to pick up the loose leaves that had escaped Kait's booklet and were floating around freely.
The shout had grabbed the interest of a few people lingering in the hallways and I sighed, allowing the gossiping teens to do what they did best while I slunk away to my first class.
I was about to enter the classroom when a strong hand grabbed me by the elbow and I was being tugged into a warm embrace.
"Hey, beautiful."
I looked up at my boyfriend, a lazy smile tugging at the corner of my lips.
If only I'd started the day seeing his gorgeous face first instead of dealing with the angry firecracker that was my little sister.
