Guilt washed over Elizabeth as she gracefully landed to her feet behind the Cullen's home. She knew Edward would most likely be worried and upset as she did not keep her words of returning before dark. But she also knew that it was because he cared for her so much.Pushing open the back door, she carefully walked into the home feeling the warmth surround her. They knew she was to be back soon, the heater remained on for her comfort. She felt as if her footsteps echoed loudly as she continued her pace through the home's living room.
Alice, sat on the sofa rearranging the decorative pieces on the coffee table. She sent Elizabeth a smile which Elizabeth returned. Jasper sitting beside her, with his arm around her had his gaze focused on the television as he and Emmet both watched the baseball game that played on the wide screen.
Elizabeth was passing the kitchen now when she recognized the delicious smell of tomato soup.
Esme stirred the pot on the stove as Carlisle cleaned the dishes in the sink behind her. "I have some soup for you whenever you're hungry." She smiled at Elizabeth, looking up from the pot.
"I would love some, thank you." Elizabeth grinned at her feeling grateful.
Just then she met eyes with Rosalie who sat at the kitchen counter, looking up from her book she sniffed before crinkling her face with disgust and looking back down to her novel in front of her causing Elizabeth to furrow her brows in confusion.
"I'm actually going to change out of these clothes first," Elizabeth told Esme earning a nod in response as she now made her way up the staircase.
As Elizabeth neared the closed door of Edward's bedroom, the faint sound of a piano playing filled her ears. She listened to the soft melody before her fingertips reached for the silver door handle.
The warm, sweet, and comforting scent of cinnamon and cloves immediately sent a wave of relief throughout his body as he took in her scent once again. He was no longer tense as he let his fingers trace across the ivory piano keys.
Elizabeth's green eyes watched him intently as he sat at the piano focused on playing the beautiful tune. A small smile forming on her face before she stepped into the bedroom, softly taking the seat beside him on the piano bench.
Edward's hands continued to move graciously over the piano keys. Elizabeth was in awe, her smile never leaving her face.
The soft music finally came to an end, "That was lovely," She spoke in almost a whisper, not yet meeting his eyes.
Edward reached his hand to hers that rested on her lap, gently taking it into his. This time, she did not shiver at his icy touch.
Finally, his golden eyes met hers. "It's yours." He spoke softly.
A rosy flush rushed it's way to her cheeks as she glanced down at their interlocked hands. "You wrote it?" She looked up again.
He nodded, his small smile not faltering.
