Elizabeth Gray lost everything. First her parents and then her twin brother. She moved to Forks, Washington for a new start and a new life. But what happens when she's discovered by a clan called the cold ones and shapeshifters? And falls in love wi...
The sharp tip of an arrow sliced effortlessly through the bark of a tall pine tree. The arrow landed in the center of the drawn target.
Another arrow flew sharply through the air, this time missing the target completely and landing a few feet behind the tree.
A sigh escaped Elizabeth's lips as she dropped her bow to her side in frustration.
"Remember you've just got to loosen up a bit, don't keep your shoulders so tense." Seth spoke from beside her.
Elizabeth nodded. "I know. I just don't understand why I feel so off today."
"You've been doing great these last few days, everyone has good days and bad days." Seth spoke in hopes to comfort her.
"I suppose." Elizabeth said, although she was not entirely speaking of the archery lessons that Seth had been giving her the past week, more so it was her instincts that felt strange and she could not put her finger on why.
Seth took a step back as he spoke, "I'm gonna grab us some more water, I'll be back." He sent her a small grin and jogged back to his car which was not too far away from where they stood.
The sound of a twig snapping beneath Elizabeth's feet was heard as she made her way to collect the fallen arrow far behind the marked tree. She noticed she was low on arrows and made her way to collect the fallen arrows the two of them had shot and missed the target.
After collecting several arrows, her eyes scanned the mossy covered ground and could not find anymore.
Elizabeth began to make her way back when her heart stopped at a stranger's voice.
"You missed one." A high pitched voice laced with venom spoke from behind her.
A small gasp escaped Elizabeth's lips as she froze in place.
She used every ounce of courage in her to turn around and face the stranger, knowing there's no possible way someone could get through her hex.
Elizabeth turned with a hard glare ready to face them, a young looking girl with blonde hair pulled ever so neatly back into a bun stood clothed in full black with a long cloak.
She was not alone, to her left was a boy who also looked quite young with a cloak and dark hair, a scowl on his face as he examined Elizabeth.
Elizabeth met their blood red eyes and knew immediately who they were.
The Volturi.
The girl held the arrow in her pale hand, the other she raised up and traced her fingers across Elizabeth's shield. A wall separating them from her.
"Interesting." She spoke to herself it seemed. "So, this is the reason for Aro's inability to see anything past the red haze."
"Your abilities are strong, witch." She spoke to Elizabeth. "But can they withstand our own?" She asked with an evil grin.
The blonde vampire focused her gaze hard on Elizabeth, "Pain." She spoke.
Elizabeth only looked at her in confusion, feeling nothing as the blonde's grin began to fade into a frown.
A loud snapping echoed throughout the forest. Elizabeth looked to the arrow that the girl had snapped between her fingers in frustration.
Immediately she turned to the male vampire, "Brother, paralyze her."
The dark haired vampire said nothing as he let his black fog creep out from his hands, it poured to the ground and flowed toward Elizabeth.
A dark shadow creeped over her as the fog crashed up against the wall of her hex.
Once the fog had vanished. Both of the vampires were furious but remained as still as statues.
The girl spoke again, "Surrender or others will suffer."
Elizabeth found her words again and spoke hard. "I'm not afraid of you."
Ignoring her, the girl continued. "We see you have become close with a certain coven. While you may not have any remaining family or friends we know they certainly do."
Elizabeth furrowed her brows in confusion.
"Haven't you heard? Carlisle has friends from all around the world." The male vampire finally spoke in a menacing voice. "You certainly can't protect everyone."
Just as Elizabeth felt her stomach sink, an ear splitting growl sounded throughout the forest.
Seth's sandy colored fur came into view, as he let our a snarl.
"Seth it's fine." Elizabeth said to him, seeing him shaking with rage as he stood in front of her. Protecting her from the two vampires in black.
He did not let his guard down as the blonde spoke once more. "Now that you've been warned, reconsider surrendering or prepare for great regret."
In an instant the two vanished, with their black cloaks flowing behind them.
Warm chocolate brown eyes met Elizabeth's green ones. He could not read her expression, he stepped closer to her and bent his head down to her level before gently nudging her his nose signaling her to head back to his car.
