When Fushiguro Megumi first woke up in the Forger living room, he was initially confused. He had only been pretending to sleep, so then why was he waking up? Then there was a wet tongue that slid up his cheek which didn't really help his confusion but did keep him from panicking. He set a hand comfortably on Bond's round head and looked around. Slowly, the pieces clicked together in his head as his body began to wake up. He slid off of the couch and checked the time. It had definitely been over an hour since he had gotten here and that meant Yor hadn't woken him up. Did that mean she trusted him alone here?
He noticed the notes on the counter. One for him, one for her husband. He did appreciate the fact that she kept her note to him relatively vague in case Loid had stumbled upon a sleeping stranger in their apartment. He crumpled up the note and shoved it in his pocket. Despite it being much later than he thought, he still had a mission to do. The only reason he agreed to come here was so he could get some intel about the little girl and why Sukuna had such an interest in her. She seemed to be at the center of these attacks and Megumi had to figure out why. From what Kugisaki described, she didn't seem any different than any other annoying kid. Sure, she ran off and she could see curses, but none of that truly explained the interest. Did she have some innate cursed technique that Nobara couldn't see? It was because of Megumi's own shadow technique that Sukuna spared his life so many times in the past. Not that the reminder of being indebted to the King of Curses was particularly welcome, but it helped explain some of the interest at least.
Megumi made his way through the apartment. It was all so...normal. A regular family living in the city. He wondered what his life would be like living like this. Would he love it? Would it grow boring as time went on? All of these family photos and the nice lived-in atmosphere of the entire place made a small pit in Megumi's stomach.
He had to stay focused.
Megumi poked his head into Anya's bedroom, thankful that she put her name on her door. It definitely helped his search since he really didn't want to tear this whole place apart looking for clues. As he stepped inside Anya's room, he made a mental note not to mention any of this to Nobara and Itadori as both of them would probably make some weird comments about him snooping through a little girl's room. This is for the mission and there was bound to be something in here that could help them. Some weird creepy drawings maybe? A diary? Megumi took a deep breath and started rifling through the desk drawers.
Lots of pens and crayons, some broken in half.
A crumpled-up page of homework with only two of the answers correct.
Three shiny rocks and two giant stickers of a popular spy character on tv.
Nothing useful.
Megumi sighed and looked behind every picture frame, under the bed, and even pulled up her covers to check her bed as well. Nothing. He groaned and ran a hand down his face. Now he would have to start searching the entire home of a trained assassin. Megumi stepped out of the bedroom and tried to formulate a plan of attack here. He could pretend that the place had been robbed and he wouldn't have to worry about covering his tracks, but then she had seen him fight before. She probably wouldn't buy that. If he pretended a curse broke into this place he would really have to trash it and despite being jealous of this life that this family was leading, he didn't have it in him to trash it that badly. He sighed and called his Divine Dog. He looked between it and Bond.
"You two behave," He said sternly, mainly worried about how Bond would react to the shadow. He just seemed curious, sniffing at the shikigami, his ears twitching. He kneeled down and put a hand on each of the dog's heads.
"Let me know if someone comes in." He instructed. His Divine Dog wagged its tail, showing that it knew and understood the assignment. Bond stared at him as if there was nothing but static behind his big eyes. At least one of the guard dogs understood the assignment. He scratched behind Bond's ears before standing back up.
