The physician's highest calling, his only calling, is to make sick people healthy - to heal, as it is termed.

A month after the interns started their first shift at Seattle Grace, Julie was now fifteen weeks pregnant. Her belly became more noticeable to others, and people wondered who the father of the baby was. She didn't let the gossip bother her, knowing they'd find something else to talk about soon enough. Her and Derek's friendship was slowly mending itself as they went out for coffee in the morning with the kids before shift.
She also started seeing a trauma surgeon named Charles Blackwood a few weeks back, who didn't seem deterred by the fact she was pregnant with another man's baby or already had two kids. He was from the U.K. and moved to Seattle to escape a case that haunted him. He told her the story, that he tried to save a battered wife of a powerful corrupt politician a couple of years ago. She unfortunately died on the table and despite being willing to testify to the extent of her injuries, the police were paid off to close the case.
So he tried to get the truth out, but the politician got word and got him fired and blacklisted him from working at any other hospital in the U.K. So to say screw it, he told the truth to any journalists he could, killing the other man's career in politics as women's rights and victim advocates badgered him to resign from his position. It took a few months of articles and protests before his political party turned their backs on him, finding him too problematic to fight for.
