If you knew that Ghost watched you anyways...

"Alright then, if you need anything just knock on my door!", you said cheerfully, before giving him a small wave.

He nodded and closed the door as soon as you turned around, knowing for sure that you could not exactly give him what he needed.

It definitely wasn't cooking ingredients or kitchen utensils.

You slightly turned around once more, but the door was already closed, and Ghost was halfway up the stairs to resume his position.

He stopped right in his tracks, looking at the glass container in his hands.

"That's not right", he mumbled, and went down the stairs towards the kitchen.

Although he found the thought stupid himself, he wanted to eat your self-made food properly, heated up and from an actual plate.

So he did just that, and five minutes later he made himself comfortable in his chair, a steaming plate of curry and rice in his lap.

The heavenly smell alone was promising, telling him that this would be by lengths better than the food in the base and most definitely better than any takeout.

He pushed up his balaclava and took the first bite, perfectly balanced spices and flavours combining on his tongue. Homecooked meals were a luxury in his life, and this one was definitely the icing on the cake.

Of course your hands would produce something like this.

While he practically inhaled the curry, he checked on the target, rolling his eyes when he saw that he was having a nap. He even put his pyjamas on.

This mission would never yield any results.

Sorry Captain, I have nothing, the target is a fucking hermit.

On his paper he searched for today's date and then added '1803 target asleep' to the list, right below '1412 target goes grocery shopping' and '1628 target cooks carbonara (wrong)'.

Ghost shook his head in dismay, but then he concluded that he might as well use the time to watch you instead.

He even used the telescope this time, fuck it.

You sat on the sofa in your living room, feet propped up on the edge and a pillow in your arms. He couldn't see the telly from this angle, but he was sure you watched something that interested you, your eyes glued to the screen.

There were a lot of why's in his head.

Why didn't you go out with friends? Why didn't you hang out with the neighbours? Even facetiming someone might aid the loneliness that was so painfully apparent in your life.

This part of town was very remote. Did you have a car? There wasn't one in the driveway, but you had a garage.

Even with working from home, didn't you have any colleagues you got along with well enough to spend time with them?

Questions roaming around in Ghost's head, and for all of them you would have had an answer.

Your parents didn't speak to you after a nasty fallout, your friends were on the other side of the world, the time differences making it increasingly difficult to stay in touch. They had their own lives, some with kids and successful, yet demanding careers.

You didn't go anywhere where you could meet potential new friends. A few months ago, you had told your husband that you would like to go to the gym.

"Why would you want to go there, honey?", he had asked in a surprised tone, and in the end, after a discussion that grew more and more heated, his last words on the matter were, "I will buy you some equipment, we can put it in the spare bedroom. You're not going to a public gym."
