Happy Halloween! If it was one, I was still longing for meeting this doll more mutually then through Jake, I begged my mom, I begged my dad, they didn't seem to pay much attention, or didn't hear me. "Caroline, would you like to meet chucky sometime?" My dad asked me, it caught my attention immediately and took my focus off of my drawing, 'that's his name? I like it.' I was of course drawing chucky, I always had a thing for art. I liked it, I drew sunflowers..cats..pumpkins..hello kitty..anything cool like that. "What if he doesn't like me?" My anxiety came back, instead of a yes! or really? My anxiety took over instead, and I worried about my thoughts from a couple weeks ago..
"I'm sure he'd love you, sweetheart." My dad encouraged.
"Are you kidding? That thing belongs to Jake Wheeler, and excuse me but did you not see what he did to me at the talent show? He's a bully. Jake wheeler is a bully."
"Who's a bully? Chucky?" I asked, concerned.
"No- sweetie..he's not."
"Honey it was a joke! And in a way..you should be flattered, the whole thing was about you." My dad tried to de-escalate the situation.
I zoned out midway through their conversation, I didn't care what either of them had to say to Lexy, she was an afterthought right now, until she grabbed my wrist and dragged me out to the Uber with her to go go Oliver's house. "Don't touch me!" I yelled, "I wanna go trick or treating!!" She was making me mad, stealing my thunder by doing what SHE wanted on halloween, she always did what she wanted! I wish I could've went trick or treating by myself.
"Caroline, I don't care what you want! Just shush and let's go.."
"Fine.."
I went quiet, I didn't want her to hit me or yell at me anymore then she already had..I went out with her in my dog onesie, I wasn't really in the mood to play dress up this Halloween, I was hyper-focused on getting to chucky, now that I know his name it'll be easier to navigate for him at this halloween party..if Jake shows up that is. I woke up when we got there, I must've napped on the way over, I went into Oliver's huge home, the lights and music being way too overwhelming..Oliver guided me to his game-room and set up a game for me, it was a slash and dash type game. It was cool I guess.
I felt lonely for about..an hour I'd say, before I heard a voice that lit up my face emotionally,"Hey, Caroline..right?"
I recognized the voice and turned to face him immediately, "chucky? Chucky!" I stood up on my knees and scooted over to him, rug-burned kneecaps didn't matter, I hugged him and to my surprise he reciprocated, maybe he didn't hate me after-all! "I missed you so much! I wanted to see you so bad, and..what's with the mask?" I asked him, he had on a hello kitty mask, I liked hello kitty so maybe we had something in common.
"I wanted to get in the spirit." He took the mask off and handed it to me, "you want it? I don't."
"Yeah! Sure!" I took the mask and fidgeted with it for a minute, I really liked hello kitty a lot, the mask was cute.
"It's kinda ugly, I don't fucking care for cats to be honest."
"Oh- uh..yeah, it sucks."
I threw the mask aside, I wanted to impress him, copy him a little bit too. I felt inclined to mimic him at least a little bit, I was so nervous..he didn't seem to hate me at all, which is good! But..I don't wanna ruin what's already going so good.
"Ey! You're losin'!" He pointed to the tv screen, my game character was mercilessly getting slaughtered by zombies in the horror-video-game Oliver had set up for me earlier..i had to admit i liked the blood, even if it was poor quality 8-bit blood..i liked the way it splashed everywhere on the screen, but nevertheless I scrambled over to the game and grabbed my controller, trying desperately to fight off the zombies attacking the guy I was playing as.
"I can't get them in time! I CAN'T GET THEM OFF!" It was frustrating me, I didn't like losing, or failing..or any of the sort. Everything I did had to be either perfect, or close to it. Chucky took the controller from me and almost effortlessly slashed the villains off of my character, I looked between him and the screen in awe..
"Ya got another controller..?"
"Yeah, I think Oliver does..wanna play?"
"Yeah Caroline, I do..I do."
I let him join the game after getting multi-player set up, Oliver's gaming console had four controllers. Mine was black, chucky's was red. He was really, really good at this game. I tried to copy his character movements and I did pretty well when I did, I almost felt myself getting more and more attached to him as we played the game and talked about murder, art, what places we liked to go and what different things we were into, and we actually have a lot in common, eventually my sister was apart of the conversation.
"Hey Care, where's lexy?"
"Probably kissing Junior somewhere.."
"At least she's gonna die doing what she loves."
I looked at Chucky, I didn't want him to leave..and if he really had to..then okay..I made sure to give him my address so he could come for me if he wanted to.
"I wanna show you my room sometime, my house is really big! Do you wanna see it?"
"Yeah, y'know what? I do. Not right now but..sometime for sure."
"I really like you chucky, I wanna be friends..please..? I don't have that many."
"You've got potential, Caroline..so..sure. we can be friends,"
I made him make a pinky-promise with me that he'd never leave me, I always took promises seriously, they were crucial, once someone broke a promise they also broke my heart, but chucky would never do that! "Best friends?"
"Yeah, best friends."
"Forever?"
"Sure..forever, kid."
