A while back some girls
Used to post things claiming
That they weren't like "other girls"

But the thing is
I don't think I know enough
About other girls
To determine if I'm like them

Do other girls
Want to be pretty but don't want
the attention that comes with it?

Do other girls
Always need a book on hand
Because they feel anxious without?

Do other girls
Handwrite their favorite quotes
In pretty notebooks?

Do other girls
Think a lot about their younger self
And wonder if they would like who you are now?

Do other girls
Not want to grow up because
They're scared of the expectations?

Do other girls
Have trouble throwing
Away old things?

Do other girls
Like who they are but sometimes
Wish they were someone else?

Do other girls
Sit on the bathroom counter
And write poems in their head?

I hope so.
I hope there are other girls
Somewhere out there
That are like me
