At first, all you heard was the sounds of pencils speeding across multiple pages. Then...
*rinnnnng*
The school bell had flooded through the ears of tired Hajime Hinata. The poor boy was still in the Reserve Course waiting out his days until graduation, or at least Friday. He didn't finish his test... no, he didn't even manage a measly 2/3 of it after a 45 minute period. He just snuck his paper and speedily bubbled whatever questions were still remaining. Then he managed to turn the paper in relieved, and he was even more relieved when he saw the 87% in red on his paper the next day. Yes, 87% isn't the best grade, but for someone who didn't actually try, that's a gift from God.
And then, finally, there was lunch. It was a Wendsday, and he went outside the building to search for his SHSL gamer friend, Chiaki Namani. He checked the fountain and there she was, playing a game on her Nintendo, this time a story game. He didn't enjoy what came of hanging out with her, but he has definitely loved her (platonically).
People would bully him and call him names like 'wanna be ultimate' and 'gamer nerd'. Rumors would fly that he was in love with Chiaki and that the two were dating each time they were seen spending a second together, but this wasn't the case. The two were more like siblings than anything else. The inferiority dynamic wasn't a secret to the two, they were very aware of the situation they were in. Chiaki was better and Hajime was simply... not. But Chiaki saw the boy as an equal, yet he never actually understood exactly why.
This hangout session was different though, because Hajime had saw a familiar boy walking straight ahead when he had sat down next to the girl. A tall one. A slim one. A pale one. One that needs a personal stylist. Maybe a hair cut. One that was probably hypnotized because his eyes looked straight ahead and no where else. He looked passed Hajime and didn't even acknowledge him— no, he didn't even look his way. The man had approached Chiaki and took a cold glance or two at the brunette while talking to Chiaki. The conversation wasn't necessarily important, just about a class event Chiaki wanted to pre-order for.
The pale-skinned boy knew Hajime was looking at him and averted his gaze at all cost, but finally the feeling of someone watching you, like they're breathing down your neck and reading your thoughts grew to much to bare. The boy in brown turned his attention to Hajime, and just stared. Looking into his green eyes he continued for a good second, but now, it wasn't cold, nor full of hate. It was regular, and there was a smile on his face.
"Hi...I'm Nagito Komaeda, the Ultimate Lucky Student... and you..? Not your talent of course, you don't have one... I could tell that much by your uniform"
damn. He has no chill does he? Does rationality, empathy and kindness not exist in his life or is he just autistic?
Who knows. Maybe he was, but Nagito was just naturally so passive aggressive he didn't notice when the 'harsh truth' was just harsh.
"I'm uh.. I'm Hajime Hinata. Good afternoon Komaeda."
Nagito had looked like Meghan Fox had just walked in; lovestruck. Probably shocked by how Hajime had proper pleasantries and was so kind to him.
