It was silent.
so silent, so awkward, and so silent.

The boy's thoughts were obviously racing, but they didn't say a word.

Then, they reached the vending machine. Hajime put his money in. Nagito had wanted a sprite and lays chips, and Hajime wanted a coke-cola. He had went to get himself a coke, but the machine jammed.

"Shit..." Hajime cursed lightly, kicking the machine before backing up and just staring at it like it was going to spit out the soda can soon.

"What... are you doing..?" Nagito asked, shocked, scared, concerned, and mainly confused.
"I don't think we should vandalize school prop-"

"Don't worry.. it's gonna spit something out..."

And it did, but it was coincidentally a sprite, not a coke.

"Dammit" Hajime looked at the blue and green clan, crouching, tears looking as though they were forming in his eyes for dramatic effect. He looked as if the can was a bastard new born child whom he never wanted.

"sorry..." Nagito apologized. He knew his luck was at fault, but what he didn't know is why Hajime was so butt hurt over a soda dramatics aside. And what he also didn't know was that Hajime had an extreme fear of non-dark drinks.

"It's.. I..." he stared at the can once more. "It's all good. Not my fault and not directly yours." He stood up to hand Nagito the soda and went to the machine again, this time buying his Coke again.

. . .

"AAAAGHHH" Hajime growled. If Nagito didn't know him well, he would've guessed the brunette had anger issues, but at the same time his reaction was pretty understandable and the jammed machine was upsetting to experience.

It had been a moment of staring at the machine until Nagito stepped up and stated,
"Let me try."

"Mmhm.. okay," Hajime handed Nagito his own cash and then took a step back to let Nagito try.

"I don't need your money, you've done enough for me already," Nagito politely declined while checking his pockets for money.

"You don't have to pay.. I already said I would do it."

Nagito continued searching his pockets until he let out a loud sigh.
"No luck..."

well that explains part of the good luck bad luck cycle,

He didn't even put in Hajime's money when the machine spat out about 15 chips and sodas each.

and that's the other part of it.

Hajime flinched, taken aback by surprise.

"O-oh .."

"Oh! How lucky of me...!" Nagito said quietly to himself, but Hajime had heard.

he gets surprised by his own talent too? does that mean he can't control or tell when anything drastically and magically good or bad happens? It just suddenly occurs..? must be terrible. or maybe he just has such extremely low self worth he gets shocked by his own abilities at times.

"I may need a little help with this," Nagito said kindly with his eyes closed and mouth in a smile. He presented himself so kind and gracefully at times it was almost so sweet, so cute, in a happy, wholesome, also weirdly ironic, kind of way.
Nagito handed Hajime a sprite before scooping up the chips into his arms.

"I-I don't drink light colored soda..."

"Why not?"

"It has alot of added sweeteners and it's super bubbly."
