Because every prince deserves a princess, I give you the one they call Princess Poppy.

Those words echoed in King Peppy's mind, he almost lost his baby daughter in an instant. He glanced down at the little baby girl sleeping in his arm, she was just about small enough to fit in his hand. The young princess everyone knew as Princess Poppy, the future queen of the trolls, his only family. He could've lost everything in the blink of an eye, but thankfully, he led all his trolls to safety on Trollstice. Bad timing, yes, but for the safety of his people, and his daughter, it was worth it. Now everyone was safe from harm, and the Bergens wouldn't be able to find him. He hoped deep down that they would never see another Bergen again, the sheer thought of possibly losing Poppy haunted him.

King Peppy: Here! Right here! This is where we will rebuild our civilization. It has everything we need. Fresh air, clean water...And sweet acoustics.

All the trolls cheered for their heroic king, not only thankful for their new environment, but thankful for his daring escape from the Bergens. They were all alive thanks to him.

5 years passed, King Peppy watched his daughter play with a scrapbook, she had a unique talent when it came to scrapbooks, and she never ever screwed up. But even though King Peppy had saved his people, he wasn't so sure. The Bergens could actually end up finding them, and Trollstice would start up again. He had already lost his beloved queen when Poppy was still in her egg, in fact, she was the one that had planned the revolt, he just executed it when it was time. He didn't want to lose anyone else, and that included one of his people, and even Poppy. All he wanted was for her to grow up in peace, not having to worry about a Bergen crawling into her bedroom, or having nightmares at night about being eaten. He just wanted peace for his people and his daughter.

Poppy: Look, Daddy!

Poppy showed her father the scrapbook photo she just finished of the whole village having a huge party.

King Peppy: Very nice, Poppyseed, keep up the good work.

The toddler princess couldn't help but giggle, she loved when her father called her Poppyseed. Not only that, she loved her people and all, but she was very close with her father. He had told her stories about how he saved the trolls from the Bergens, and she would listen to them for hours, sometimes she would get him to tell those stories well passed her bedtime. All and all, she was happy.

Poppy: Branchie! Branchie! Look what I made!

The little princess searched for one of her friends in the forest, but she often forgot where he lived and got lost in the forest searching. She knew that he was well hidden, but she didn't know he was this good.

Poppy: Branchie...?

But there was no sign of him, instead, there was a loud thumping noise nearby.

Poppy: Branchie!

The child hoped to finally find her friend, but she was in for a surprise, and not a good one. It wasn't a troll that was making the thumping noise, it was a Bergen.

Poppy: Bergen...!

She was practically paralyzed where she was standing, she knew the tales about the Bergens, but seeing them in person was absolutely terrifying. Unfortunately for her, the Bergen spotted her in the flesh and started approaching the terrified child.

Poppy: DADDY!!!!!!

Little Poppy ran for her life, but the Bergen pursued her, she ran in a bunch of random directions not wanting to steer the Bergen to the village. The Bergen lowered its arm to try and grab her, but barely missed. Its fingernail slicing right through the princess' arm, cutting it.

Poppy: OUCHIE!!!!!

She tumbled down a slightly steep hill hitting a tree, the Bergen, not being able to find her, gave up and left. Poppy looked at her arm where she was hit, a large cut spread from her shoulder to her fingertips. Tears began to flow down her cheeks, what would everyone say if they found out she encountered a Bergen? Would they have to leave?

Poppy: DADDY!!!!!

Poppy ran back home sobbing, despite her injured arm. But what Poppy didn't know was that a gray troll child, just about her age, had witnessed the whole ordeal before disappearing into the bushes.
