When the sun rose above the horizon and started illuminating the ground below, Delta finally went to sleep after working without a single break for the entire night. He knew that his habits tended to be very unhealthy at times, but he felt as if he couldn't do anything about it. He was very passionate about writing; it was almost the only thing that brought him joy. So, how could he do anything other than write when his inspiration decided to pay him a visit?

Even though he was beyond exhausted at that point, Delta still set an alarm to make sure he would wake up in a few hours to continue writing. This was the first time he had ever felt such a need to write. It was as if he was sick and writing was his only cure. Like an addict, he couldn't stop his ten fingers from vigorously pressing the keys on his keyboard. He felt like a pianist, pouring his soul on the keys in front of him to create a dazzling sonata for the whole world to hear. He despised his body for having needs that stopped him from finishing his masterpiece. He thought he wouldn't be able to fall asleep with all the ideas that were running around in his mind, but he apparently underestimated how tired he truly was.

As he slumbered, the red-eyed man dreamt of his new friend, the detective. They were running together through empty streets, in the rain, kind of like they did when they first met. This time, however, they weren't being chased by the police. Instead, it was a few of the Doctor's clones, his brothers, if he could even call them that, that were after them. He was determined to not get caught. Delta would rather die than return to the Doctor.

Unfortunately, as soon as they took a sharp turn to the left, they were met with the man himself. Delta put his hand in front of Heizou, wanting him to stay behind, as far away from that man as possible. The Doctor looked the same as when Delta had first seen him, which was an indicator that this was a dream, but he was too afraid to even think of that. He was about to tell Heizou to run away, but then the other clones caught up with them, blocking the way. Two of the clones ran up to him and pulled him away from the green-eyed man, who was still as a statue, just as the Doctor took his hands out of the pockets of his lab coat, revealing the gun that he was holding.

With more fervour than before, Delta struggled against the clones that held him back, away from Heizou, but he didn't manage to escape from their grip. Right in front of his eyes, the Doctor fired the gun after aiming for the detective's head.

He didn't miss.

At the same time, one of the clones holding him tightly told him something about taking him back with them and using him to test a substance that could (but most likely wouldn't) have medicinal properties. Yet Delta couldn't pay any attention to him, the sight of the burgundy-haired man on the ground was far too distracting.

He was on the ground, laying on his back, not moving. Green eyes that seemed to have lost their shine stared at the gloomy sky above. At the centre on his forehead, one could see the hole created by the bullet, surrounded by a trail of blood that slipped from the side of his head and hit the cold concrete, painting everything it touched crimson.

Luckily, Delta didn't have to witness this gruesome sight for much longer. He opened his eyes and was face to face with the real world. Turns out he set his alarm for nothing, since he woke up much earlier. Despite knowing that what he saw was entirely fabricated by his subconcious and held no meaning, it shook him. After this, he felt like he wouldn't be able to get any shuteye for weeks, so he got up from his bed to make himself a cup of coffee. This way, he would at least get some work done. He desperately wanted to finish writing his script and thought that it would be possible for him to do so in a couple more days.

He kept himself cooped up in his room for the rest of the day, avoiding Heizou like the plague, since seeing him (or even thinking of him) reminded him of that horrible nightmare. When the sun finally began to set, Delta realised that he hadn't eaten anything the whole day and ordered some food for him and his guest from a place down the road. Finally leaving his room after hours, he saw the green-eyed man sitting on an armchair near his bookcase and reading a book that he had most likely taken from said bookcase. He read the title on the cover of the book; it read "The Gambler". He remembered buying that book some months ago, but he never brought himself to read it. He made a mental note to read it right after completing his script.
