The waves beneath me rocked my body and the paddle board I was on in a rhythmic pattern

The waves beneath me rocked my body and the paddle board I was on in a rhythmic pattern. I wasn't going anywhere, I was just there. The sun beat down on my face, but even then I found it peaceful in the least.

The sound of a motor could be heard in the distance but I knew I didn't want to get up just yet. I wanted to be at peace, and have full control over my decisions even if only for a few minutes. The waves crashed together beneath me, kind of like a ride on a merry-go-round.

I love the ocean. I love how when your here at the beach, and you let it, all your worries slip away, and you're eventually left with harmonious peace.

The motor got louder and louder as the seconds passed and I knew I'd be back to having cameras in my face and grown men and women asking me hidden perverted questions. My life could be so tiring at times.

The sun wasn't as violent as it could be, it remained comfortable for me. That was until someone stood above me blocking me from it, ruining my tanning session.

"Wake up."

It was my uncle Joe standing above me, but it wasn't his voice pulling me from my state of relaxation. It wasn't unfamiliar, it just wasn't the uncle who was standing in front of me pointing.

"Bronwyn, wake up."

My eyes opened to be met face-to-face with my dad. Alarmed, I sat up quickly and backed away, my eyebrows raised at him.

"Good morning, babygirl," he said, not moving from his position. His head was resting on his fist, and his elbow had him propped up. "Have another ocean dream? You were muttering about a jet ski and a paddle board."

I rubbed my eyes, fighting back a yawn. I was still somewhat tired from not leaving that award ceremony until a few hours ago.

"What time is it?" I was sat up, but I still didn't feel like opening my eyes yet. It could've been 11pm for all I knew, with my eyes screwed shut and my black out curtains, I'd never know the day of not for technology and the days I'm not here.

"A quarter to 2. Everyone's up and hungry, so we're figuring out what we wanna go eat and do for the day. Come down when you're done, okay." He pressed a kiss to my head, leaving no room for me to whine about how tired I still am.

I can't believe I slept in all day. My mom wouldn't have allowed us to stay that late if my dad and uncles weren't there. She was only ever lenient when he was around, because she knows every time he's in town I ask to stay with him, and if I'm not grounded she'll let me.

After 10 minutes of contemplating my decisions, I stood up from my bed and did my skincare routine, I brushed my teeth and after, I took a quick shower. Whoever carried me up here also took my bun down, took the makeup off me and the jewelry too. Whoever they were is an Angel; it was probably my dad.

My morning routine-despite it being the afternoon now- was complete and all that was much was for me to take a a much needed shower. After my shower, I was able to wake myself up more and get myself motivated to get out.

Not knowing what we'd do today, or where we were going to eat, I just decided to go with a cute but casual outfit.

I grabbed a white off the shoulder ruffle trimmed long sleeve cropped blouse, and a pair of denim shorts and paired them with my most reliable and favorite sneaker, my crisp white Air Force 1's.

After I was all ready I grabbed my phone and my AirPod Case, checking them and making sure both were inside, because I'm always loosing one or the other.

Everything I think I would need I grabbed, stuffing into my pocket, before turning off all the lights in my room and heading towards the exit.

I descended the stairs of my fathers home, stopping at the last step to see everyone sitting around the living room, on their devices.

"Good morning, mi familia!" I greeted. A chorus of 'good morning's' and 'good morning Bronnie's came from my loved ones as I made my way to my dad, who kissed my head and hugged me.

"Finally, the princess is ready. I thought I'd never eat again!" My dramatic uncle Joseph said, which caused me to purse my lips in a thin line.

"Oh can it Joe. You came down 2 minutes before she did," uncle Kevin defended and I gave him a bright smile as I walked over to him and gave him a side hug, making Joe the only one I hadn't hugged yet.

I stuck my tongue out at him and he did the same back. He's my favorite for a lot of reasons, one of which being I know he'll always have my back, and another he's just as childish if not more than me.

"Okay, let's go get something to eat before the two kids start fighting." Laughed aunt Dani, and my dad chuckled at that too.

Uncle Joe blows a raspberry before playfully shoving uncle Kev away from me, and grabbing me by my knee and arm and throwing me over his shoulder like I'm a barbell, and charging towards the front door.

I yelped at the quick action, before it was replaced by my giggles.

"I call shotgun!" My childish uncle yelled from beneath me as I held on for dear life.

"Okay, put my daughter down before you break her neck Joe," dad said, and I could tell he was only half joking. He really wanted uncle Joe to set me down. He complied albeit hesitantly, definitely thinking about launching me, before letting me crawl into the van, before he himself jumped into the passenger seat.

The mini bus we drove was big enough to seat 12 people. Dad bought it for when we all travel far together and don't want to take multiple cars.

During the car ride I listened to some music on my phone, and texted my group chat with the girls as I had 325 messages from them. Oh boy!
