Time passed, one day, two days, weeks went by, and already a month had passed, though nothing exciting happened. Mr. Porter had to help occasionally, and the Mayor's wife needed assistance several times, but that was about it. Everyone had forgotten that there ever was that particular dog; of course, I'm referring to Lily. Or maybe not everyone? Menta suppressed the fact that she actually missed her. But this morning was different; today she woke up happily, even though she couldn't understand why. Even before the day began, she was already content. Although this day started like any other. They got up, had breakfast, and went out to play. This time Menta joined them.

Menta: What should we play?

Chase: Tag?

Puppies: Okay.

Menta: I'll start. Alright, 3... 2... 1, here I go!

The puppies started playing tag, and for Menta, it made her truly happy to be able to run, jump, and be free. This might be because of her past, but it's been her life since she escaped. Although it happened a long time ago, she wasn't ready to share it with anyone, not even her own brother. With time, the puppies got tired, except for Menta; she was full of energy.

Rider: Puppies, it's time to eat!

Puppies: Coming!

They rushed into the tower.

Rubble: I was starting to starve!

When he said this, everyone started laughing at him. Rubble quickly devoured everything on his plate; he ate the fastest.

After lunch, everyone lay down in the shade of the big tree to rest. Skye lay down next to Chase, and Zuma and Rocky chatted. Each one was lost in their thoughts; Rubble fell asleep, Marshall just lay there staring at the clouds, with Everest on his mind—what she might be doing, what she ate, and so on. While Menta was still full of energy, she just lay in the grass, gazing straight up. She didn't think about anything, just watched the sky as if she wasn't living. She didn't move, didn't show any signs of breathing, and didn't react to anything. She simply watched the blue sky. She was almost drifting off to sleep when suddenly a voice rang out.

Rider: Paw Patrol to the patrol plane!

This abruptly woke her up; it was as if she had been awakened from a trance.

Puppies: Rider is needs us!

Everyone rushed to the Lookout. As usual, Marshall stumbled over everyone.

Marshall: I'm okay!

Everyone took their seats.

Chase: Ready for action, Rider, sir!

He said boldly.

Rider: Thanks for hurrying! There's a big problem. A snowstorm is approaching the nearby snowy mountain. It wouldn't be a big issue, but Turbo and the others went there to ski with Jake.

At this point, Marshall interrupted.

Marshall: Is Everest there too?

Rider: No, she's on Jake's mountain. The mission requires Menta. I need your sense of smell and vision to find them.

Menta: If there's a rescue mission, count me in!

Rider: Chase, I'll need you for the search.

Chase: Chase is ready to help!

Rider: Finally, Skye, we'll need you to bring them back to the plane.

Skye: Flying is my life!

Rider: The air patrol is ready for deployment!

Menta jumped up to get her backpack on her back. Suddenly, two wings unfolded on either side, functioning as if they were a bird's. For the first time in her life, she was flying, and she enjoyed it. Although she could have continued enjoying it, Rider and Skye were already behind her. They began searching with all their might, hoping to spot Turbo and the others. At one point, Rider's pup pad rang.

Rider: Hi Marshall. What's up?

Marshall: Rider, Jake is here, and he said Turbo and the others are arguing at the top of the mountain.

Rider: Alright, thanks for the info, Marshall! We're on our way!

Menta wasn't paying attention and left Rider, Chase, and Skye behind. She just flew and enjoyed the pleasantly swaying breeze. Rider wanted to call her, but the storm was too close; he knew Menta would find her way back, just hoped she'd notice the storm in time.

The two Turbos were already on the ship, and Menta was doing her best to return, but the storm was too powerful. She felt only the descent and the world darkening. Exhausted from the struggle, she couldn't even attempt to resist, just falling until... a thud. The world went dark; she felt nothing and saw only darkness. Then, a gray dog appeared before her. She recognized her instantly; it was Lily. She rushed to her and hugged her tightly.

Menta: I thought you were dead.

Lily: I am.

Menta let go of Lily and sat down in front of her.

Menta: But... then what about me? Am I...?

Lily: That's for you to decide. You can choose to stay here with me or go back and continue living your life.

Lily also sat down. She didn't want Menta to stay, but she knew there was a chance she might.

Menta: Lily, I can't decide. How can I choose between life and death?

Lily was somewhat relieved that she couldn't decide.

Lily: I don't know; you have to figure that out for yourself. But if you stay, you won't see them anymore. If you go back with me, you might still have a chance to meet them. Decide with that in mind.

Menta wanted to stay, but she knew there was much more ahead of her in life.

Menta: What connects us?

That was Menta's first thought.

Lily: Don't you remember me? Look back and search within yourself.

Menta thought with all her might, and an image flashed before her. Lily was there, fighting for her life. Menta had watched a German Shepherd fight many times, but she couldn't remember the face until now.

Menta: So, this is what connects us?

Lily just nodded, and then Menta looked down and saw Chase searching for her with great determination. Her heart broke at the sight.

Lily: So, will you stay, or will you go back to them?

The German Shepherd thought for a moment but then confidently answered.

Menta: I... I cannot stay. Chase needs me.

Lily felt relieved when she heard the answer.

Lily: Okay, I understand.

They hugged each other one last time. Menta started her journey back to life.

Chase: Rider! Menta is waking up!

Chase jumped up, vigorously wagging his tail...

I could continue, but I think it'll be more enjoyable in the next chapter, which will pick up right where it left off. I hope you enjoyed it. Well then, goodbye!
