Remember:
Marshall: Ryder.Ryder looked at his Dalmatian.
Ryder: Yes?
Ryder crouched down in front of the dog. He was curious to know what Marshall found when examining Menta.
Marshall: Ryder, I don't think she got the wounds on the street.
He whispered as quietly as he could. The man was surprised, not really understanding why the dog thought so. But Marshall continued.
Marshall: The wounds were treated. I don't believe they would be treated on the street, and the scratch on her eye should have blinded that eye. But you could argue that it was luck, but the wound on her chest couldn't have survived without treatment, as it is a very deep wound. I think she's not telling us something. Besides the visible scratches, there are many barely noticeable bruises. I don't think she came from a good place. And her heartbeat is faster than it should be. Which means she's either scared or... I think she's scared. But especially when you're around, her heart beats faster. I don't know where she came from or who she is and what her past was like. But one thing is for sure, she hasn't had many good experiences.
Ryder thought through everything Marshall said to himself.
Ryder: I understand, interesting.
This response was due to the fact that he hadn't really processed the things Marshall said.
Present:
Rider woke up very early because he had some business to attend to in the town where he was born. After breakfast, he said goodbye to his parents and sped away on his quad. He dropped by his old friend Henrik's place, who knew a lot about dogs. He brought Chase with him, whom Henrik had helped when he rescued him.Henrik: Oh, who do we have here? Isn't it the great Rider, the leader of the Paw Patrol? Glad to see you. What brings you here?
Ryder sat down and looked at Henrik with a serious face. Henrik had not seen this face from Ryder in a long time, the last time being when Rocky's past was revealed. Before that, maybe twice. He sat down in front of the boy.
Ryder: I need a little help.
Henrik: Tell me. Which of your dogs are we talking about?
Ryder: About Menta. She's the newest member of our team, and I don't know much about her, but when Marshall examined her, he thought she didn't get her wounds on the street.
Henrik pondered what Ryder wanted to get out of this. The boy never went straight to the point; they always talked about things before getting to the subject. But not now, he went straight to the point.
Henrik: What do you want? I know a lot about dogs, but there are limits.
Ryder: I haven't finished yet. I'm talking about a German Shepherd and Chase's sister. Here's a picture of her.
He handed over his phone with a picture of Menta on it.
Ryder: What do you think might have happened to her?
Henrik just stared at the picture, not knowing what to say. It was visible in the dog that she was anxious, scared. Although from a picture, it couldn't be said for sure what she was afraid of.
Henrik: I don't know. From her posture, it's conceivable that she fought a lot. But it could be worse...
He paused, not wanting to say something scary, but he knew Ryder would ask anyway.
Ryder: Did she participate in fights? I've considered that myself. Just that she's not afraid to be close to other dogs.
Henrik returned the phone and continued what he had started to say.
