Menta: Where am I? What is this place?
Menta heard a soft whisper behind her and suddenly turned around.
Menta: WHO ARE YOU? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?
Wrinkling her nose, she looked at the dog standing in front of her.
?: Relax, I don't want to harm you or anything scary.
Said the strange figure as they stepped forward. It looked like Menta... just darker.
? : I am your past, the one you're about to let go. You can do it, but it's not that simple.
Menta straightened up and stared in bewilderment at the dog that could almost be considered her mirror image.
Menta: What do you mean by that?
Menta sat down and tilted her head slightly to the side.
? : You need to reach me.
She said as the ground began to split open beneath Menta.
? : But It won't be that easy! MUHAHAHA!!!
Menta: WHAAAT...
She woke up panting. Suddenly, she sat up and looked around.
Menta: Fortunately, Lily didn't wake up. That dream was scary... it felt like it was real.
She stretched and opened the door of the doghouse. The sun hadn't risen yet, but the stars were barely visible.
Lily: Did you get up?
Menta looked back and just answered with a forced smile. Lily stood up and walked over to her.
Lily: Is everything okay?
Placing her paw on Menta's shoulder, she sat down next to her.
Menta: Of course... just reflecting on my dream.
She wanted answers to many questions, but Lily didn't want to talk about it.
Lily: What did you dream about?
She expected this question.
Menta: It's not that important; I don't even remember it anymore.
She looked at Lily and sighed. Lily knew that everything wasn't okay, but she chose to let it be.
Menta: Shall we watch the sunrise?
She stood up and looked at the wolf dog with a questioning expression.
Lily: Why not?
The two girls set off; Menta led them to a secluded spot where they sat and silently watched the peacefully rolling sea. The sun slowly appeared, rising into the sky. Menta looked at Lily. She saw a faint smile on her face. Suddenly, time seemed to slow down, and Menta involuntarily smiled when Lily looked into her eyes. But Menta was afraid... afraid because the one she loved last had disappeared forever. She hadn't dared to love until now. But this wasn't love; it was something else that bound the two girls together, and they both knew it.
Menta: Come on, let's go back. Chase is about to wake up.
They went back, and Menta entered the lookout tower to see if Rider had already gotten up.
Rider: Good morning, Menta.
He squatted down and petted the girl's head.
Menta: Good morning, Rider.
