Sarada had to admit that she flinched one or two times whenever she looked back and realized that someone was following her.

Sumire had surprisingly quiet footsteps, and every time she spoke out to the black haired girl, it would remind Sarada of her presence. It's no wonder that the Uchiha never noticed her for the past two years at the Academy.

"I never thought I would get the chance to talk to you," Sumire professed in her soft voice.

The other girl slowed down her pace and was now walking beside her.

"Why would you say that?" Sarada asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Well, you are the most popular girl in our class. With so many people around you, I never thought I would get close enough to do so."

Sarada let out a snicker.

"Really?"

Sumire nodded with flushed cheeks.

"I feel like people only want to hang around me because they wanna use my dream to benefit themselves. Chōchō was honest about it, but she actually wants to help me get there."

"If you don't mind me asking, what is your dream?"

"Isn't it an open secret!" Sarada said with a grin. "I want to become Hokage one day."

The purple haired teen put her hands together and gave her a small smile.

"Then I should cheer you on, too."

Sarada rubbed her neck and let out a hum.

"What about you? Why did you decide to become a ninja?" Sarada asked.

Sumire pressed her lips and rubbed her index fingers together.

"It's not as impressive as yours, really."

"Come on," Sarada whined as she patted Sumire on the back. "No dream is too small."

"Well, I want," she paused, " to find my family one day."

The Uchiha's eyes went wide.

"I was raised in an orphanage for as long as I can remember. The caretakers said that my parents had disappeared after the Fourth War, and I had no other known relatives in the village. So, when I found out that ninjas were skilled trackers, I thought that could be my best way of finding them. If you would get the chance to travel to other villages, maybe I can find my clan mates or someone who knows them. Even if it's just a nugget of information."

Sarada clenched her fist. She wasn't any different from Sumire. As saddening as it felt to be abandoned, she felt a fire of conviction grow in her heart. If anything, they aren't unwanted children, and they were going to prove it.

"You have an admirable dream, Sumire. That's why I'm going to help you achieve it too."

Sumire gave Sarada a sad smile. "Then let's do it together."

The two girls linked their pinkies and swore on it. Now, she was one step closer to her goals than she realized.
