Liberty and Independence-The Motto of Delaware
October 24th, 1781-Yorktown, Colony of Virginia
She still can't believe they won. She watches as the British soldiers are escorted over to their fleet, the ships waiting for them to board. She still wears her bloodied and torn uniform, even if the battle had ended days earlier.
"Freedom..." She breathes. Freedom...freedom at last. Tears fall on her cheeks. It feels nice to be free at last.
"Adela?" She turns to find Hen behind her. She smiles at her triplet. She knows she doesn't look happy with tears falling down her face, but she was.
She was so happy! Hen looks at her worriedly.
"We...won..." She mutters, placing her hand on her chest.
"Yes...yes, we won." Hen answers, he looks so worried. She starts laughing.
"We won! We did it! Finally!" She cries, jumping up and down. She doesn't care if people are looking at her. All she cares about was that they won.
They are finally free!
At last!
"Adela!" Hen shouts, rushing forward to catch her before she falls off the pier. She smiles and wraps her arms around him.
They had won.
That was enough.
...
For now.
Virtue, Liberty and Independence-The Motto of Pennsylvania
September, 1783-Princeton, Province of New Jersey
Will gazes over his family, seeing tired yet prideful eyes and smiles of joy and relief.
Will has never been a huge fan of war and probably never will. Growing up with Quakers, he can't help, but still follow their teachings.
He wasn't the only one, though.
Even Jeremy still follows the Puritans' followings, which includes him being disrespectful to every other opinion people have.
However, sometimes, war was necessary. England hadn't been treating them kindly at all.
Words can only get him so far and England wouldn't listen.
Though many didn't think they could succeed, they did and they are finally free from England.
Will smiles wide and heads over to his family to join the celebration.
