April 19th, 1775-Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay
Jeremy's never been in battles. He's been in fights, he's seen Salem and the Hartford witch trials. He's even seen the aftermath of Indian raids, but he's never been in battle. He was stupid enough to not ask Monty or Ren or Lettie how battles are. All three of them were in the French and Indian war and he could've learned some skills if he'd asked. But, he hadn't.
Jeremy takes a deep breath and steadies his weapon again. He's nervous, his fingers twitching. Luckily, his hands don't shake any more than that.
He's glad Pat is next to him as the American Militia and the British Regulars stare each other down.
No one moves.
It's completely silent, even the birds are silent like they're holding their breaths.
The shot makes him jump.
Before he can turn to Pat, bullets start flying with the first shot still ringing in the air.
April 20th, 1775-Hartford, Connecticut Colony
As soon as Jeremy leaves, Connie takes Arthur, packs both hers and Arthur's bags and rides out of town on Samantha. She has left a note on the countertop, telling him she's left for her house in Hartford. She had a bad feeling about the lanterns hanging on the steeple. And if Jeremy yells at her for leaving, then so be it.
However, when Jeremy and Pat arrive, covered in blood, Connie knows she has made the right choice.
Pat's fine. Jeremy, however, has a limp.
As she patches Jeremy up and somehow convinces him to get some sleep, she tries not to think about what would've happened if she didn't leave Boston.
April 20th, 1775-Williamsburg, Colony of Virginia
Ken isn't completely sold on the idea of revolution. It wasn't a good idea in his opinion. However, he can't help, but be mad when they took the colony's gunpowder away. They haven't even shown an ounce of disloyalty and yet, Dunmore feels the need to take their gunpowder away.
He can feel the rage emanating off of Wes in waves. It honestly scares him. Never in his life has he seen Wes so angry.
"He had no right! We haven't even done anything! At least, not yet! There was no reason!" Wes shouts.
"He's afraid, Wes. Massachusetts is already under siege. It's natural. He's probably just paranoid." Ken explains. He wasn't trying to defend Dunmore, he was just trying to help Wes understand why Dunmore took their gunpowder away.
