#6: THE CATASTROPHE IS LURKING IN THE DARK (PART 2)
SHE DODGED QUICKLY, and before that thing touched her, she even rolled over to the ground just to avoid its sudden assault. But to her surprise, the killing intent she was expecting came to a halt all of a sudden. And what shocked her even more was to find out what exactly that thing was...
“Squeak, squeak!”
“W-What is that thing—no, it's like an unknown creature...”
It keeps on bouncing everywhere. But Ali rather stayed away from it, because she still wasn't sure if it was dangerous or not. “AI, can you describe what that creature is?” it's round and fluffy and it's like a basketball in size, and its color is pure white with round big eyes. She didn't even see its mouth. So what can this creature be if she can't compare it to a type of animal or mythical beast?
[Let me try to identify it, host. According to my restored knowledge, this kind of creature can be called an elemental spirit entity. They live around five hundred thousand years in this world and serve as guardians of nature. They all have their adepts who symbolize their form and color. This elemental spirit is white which symbolizes the wind element. The age of this one is around three hundred thousand years old, host and its adept were quite strong; around 75% of its strength can split a mountain in two, but it can be killed by losing all of its strength. If it uses its power on the strongest metal in this World, it can do 80% damage to its opponent with the strongest metal shield in one blow.]
Ali was almost stunned by what she heard. That strong? She swallowed one after another and retreated further. She wouldn't want it to be an opponent, since she only had 40% strength left at the moment.
“S-So, what are we going to do now? Why did this creature appear? T-Tell me, it's not the only one in this place, right?” her body suddenly softened and she almost wanted to disappear completely from where she was standing, especially after hearing what the AI system responded to.
[Yes, host. On this mountain, three elemental spirits live here. Such elemental spirits usually come together in the same place, especially if there is a newborn elemental spirit that they need to watch over. Because the newborn elemental spirit is in a vulnerable stage, and it is easy for other beings to capture it because the spirit energy it releases spreads when there is no guard. And since the elemental spirits in this world are endangered, creatures like them are now working together to maintain peace in this World and their race.]
“Wait—you mean, a newborn emits a powerful energy. Do you think that will help you upgrade as well?” her eyes almost lit up but her hopes shattered quickly because of what it said.
[There's only 10% of luck to obtain it, host. Even if your strength is at full 100%, you can't just get it even if you manage to unlock level 5 of my inventory.]
She didn't think about it anymore after hearing the AI's explanation.
“Fine! Then, what are we gonna do now with this one? How can we avoid it?” Ali noticed that the creature was moving its position in one direction and moved to one another as if it was sensing her and her every move. It's probably just waiting for her next action.
[If you were very eager to obtain an elemental spirit, host, if you have the courage and strength to tame it. It's also possible. There's no good harvest without trying if you have the guts.]
Ali frowned. As if the system was mocking her. She raised her eyebrows and thought for a moment.
“But how can I do that?”
[You just have to catch its tickle, host. Literally. Because this creature loves to be cuddled. But you must find the right spot and its soft side. Because if you make a mistake, host. It will explode and it will suddenly attack even if it doesn't want to.]
“WHAT?!”
“Squeake!”
“SH*T!”
Ali Morris dodged the sudden attack of the elemental spirit one more time. Its speed was unbelievable! She could barely keep up with it and avoid it in time. She couldn't feel its killing intent, but if she didn't avoid it, she couldn't be sure that there would be another tomorrow waiting for her!
“AI, is there no way?! What if I just run?” I almost shouted that in my mind because of frustration.
[There's no way, host. Because no matter where you go, it will quickly follow you. This creature's current speed is only at 30% of its strength, and if it used 40% of its strength just by approaching you, it can take your life, host. Remember, the adept of that one is wind. So its fast speed is natural.]
Ali's eyes almost watered due to shock. She stopped in the middle of running. She was speechless and froze for a moment. She tightened her hold on the knife in her trembling hand. She's doomed now...
“Squeak, squeak—”
Her world almost stopped spinning. She faced the creature that was about to rush while her mind turned blank. She also let go of the Machete she was holding. Both hands were prepared to catch it.
If there really is no other way. Then, be it! Let me tickle you to death! She desperately muttered. The corner of her lips twitched.
“Squeakeee!!!”
“Catch you!” she quickly grabbed it as it rushed, which she also quickly caught. They rolled on the ground, but Ali forgot the pain around her body. No matter what happened, she never let go of it in her arms. When it wanted to break free, she also tightened her hold on it. It was making a constant noise like a pig being butchered that her ears almost exploded. She got irritated.
“STOP, AND KEEP QUITE, WILL YOU?!” she yelled, and to her surprise, it stopped making noise, and what's more surprising for Ali is, that it also stopped from struggling. But she did not loosen her grip on it. She didn't let her guard down. What if, it quickly jumped and it hurt her?
“Squeak...”
“What the—”
