#11: BEHIND THE ENEMY LINE (PART 1)
“DOES ANYONE KNOW what that creature is? Find out who that person too because I'm sure she knows something." a man in his mid-30s gave a dark expression as he fixed his eyes firmly on the monitor in front of him. They discovered a big mystery for him. He was sure that the ferocious Beast was not the only one scattered and hiding in the mountains of Alpha Valley. He still couldn't believe what that intruder had done. That person skillfully damaged almost half of their Striker Fighter (A Drone that looks like a Flying Saucer made of advanced weapons and materials) with just a simple method. He was able to rewind the camera shot several times to be sure of the weapon used by that person. It's just a piece of blade, but the damage is so tremendous! But if they used a laser weapon to eliminate those two, they probably wouldn't just avoid it like that.
“Do you already find the info about that girl?”
“I'm sorry, Captain, but we can't find anything significant about the target. No one matched her face as if something is blocking our IT's to dig more.”
“What?! How did that happen,”
“Don't worry, sir. We'll do our best.” after bowing, one of their staff moved forward and went back to what they were doing. Uniformed personnel approached next to the one called Captain. He saluted before speaking.
“We search the vicinity, sir. But the target just vanished, and we can't track her traces anymore.” the personnel explained. Their Captain frowned.
“Just keep on searching, if necessary search in every nook and cranny as long as you can find where they're hiding!”
“Yes, sir!” the personnel also left after bowing. The Captain fell into deep thought.
“Maybe that creature had something to do with why that girl escaped so quickly...” he thought.
Somewhere in the Mountains...
[Host, be careful. Someone's digging your information. But you don't have to worry anymore. I already blocked and secured your identity for now. If you make it till my third upgrade, I can attack them with my virus.]
Ali thought and couldn't believe that someone wanted to know who she was.
“What about it? Are they enemies? What's the matter?”
[It's a personnel from that Striker Fighter, host. They recorded your swift attack before so be careful, host. They're searching for you everywhere now.]
“WHAT?! Why did you just let me know now?” Ali almost voiced that but she halted because until now she is still running steadily to avoid the Mutant Fox who is currently hunting them after they were able to deceive it. They went through and exited another hole that according to the AI was a tunnel out of the cave, but she had been walking around for a while but they still couldn't see the exit. The sun had finally set, and she was already tired. Fortunately, her Familiar didn't make any more noise. She also didn't let it use its ability to glow in the dark, because she was making sure that that cunning Fox would quickly find and catch them, that's why she used a small flashlight, it was only right that she could still see what she was passing by. She couldn't help but crumple her face because of the smell and congestion of what they were passing through. There were times when she slipped and bumped but she only stopped herself from making a loud noise.
[We're here now, host. But be careful with the beast that's lurking in the dark. 9 o'clock eighteen meters from the exit, there's a river and five meters from the left, you can find an old cabin there. It's safe to hide there for the time being, host.]
“Got it!”
“Squeak?”
Ali felt Snooky's sudden awkwardness in her arms. It struggled.
“Snooky, what's the matter?”
“Squeak, squeak!” it made even more noise. They had already left the underground passage, and Ali was about to cross the location determined by the AI when Snooky she was holding started to wriggle more and more. Until it completely fell from her grasp and was released from her embrace.
“Snooky!”
*Rattle sound*
*Scratch*
*Scratch*
Ali quickly turned to one side when she heard a series of rustling noises. A few moments later, red eyes surrounded where they were. The chill ran down her spine and she gulped hard. She suddenly broke into a cold sweat. Darkness completely engulfed the surroundings of the forest, the time passed so quickly in her place that she noticed. If it wasn't for the AI system, she probably wouldn't see the sun again if she stayed there for long. And she knew she couldn't just leave that place without getting lost. She's thankful for having a gold finger, because of the three days she stayed on the mountain, she was still lucky to survive.
Before the creatures with red eyes could take action, Ali moved quickly. He picked up Snooky again who was almost far away from her side and quickly ran in the direction the AI gave her. And it seems that those creatures were alerted because they also moved quickly and chased after her.
“AWOOOHHH...!”
“What are those creatures? A werewolves?” she asked out of nowhere but she got no answer from the AI system.
“Squeak?”
Ali pulled out the gun from her waist and charged those who were following her and almost caught up with her. It's a shame that she doesn't have night vision goggles to use because she can only get them from the System's inventory once it's upgraded to the second level. Once again she asked for a blade that she could use in Melee combat, and even though the AI didn't speak she quickly got what she needed. But how can she use that if she is holding the pistol in one hand while she is hugging her Familiar in one arm?
It seems that the elemental spirit understood her difficulty and in just an instant, it shrunk and suddenly she almost lost her momentum. Fortunately, she calmed down and continued running.
“Squeak, squeak!”
“What are you doing?!”
Suddenly it jumped on his shoulder and stuck to it like glue. She was taken back but composed herself. She took the pistol from the holster again while now holding the dagger in one hand. She stopped for a moment and felt her surroundings. She alerted herself. It seems those Beasts around her noticed what she was doing...
All four of them surrounded her now. She was grateful because their size and shape were ordinary, the only difference was that those around her were a more aggressive pack of wolves. She just hopes she doesn't encounter their Alpha and it looks like only their underlings dare to chase after her.
One of the closest of them was about to pounce on her when she quickly shot it with one bullet.
It wailed when she hit its neck. But another one of them rushed quickly when it saw the fall of its comrade. Ali swayed the dagger she was holding when she got close to one of them. She also avoided its sharp nails that almost easily cut her shoulder if it wasn't for her fast reflexes!
She took a step back and set one knee on the ground. She gathered strength with one of her legs and quickly met the assault of another Mutant wolf. She slides forward and slices the dagger on its belly after she rolls and bends her knee. It screamed but quickly recovered and it pounced on her once more.
What a tough one... She gritted her teeth.
