Chapter 3 Fauna

"Thank you professor Fig for being willing to take me and Lola to Hogwarts" My I say with a smile as we walk up to the carriage.

"It's my pleasure. It's about time for the both of you to be in Hogwarts." Professor Fig says as he looks towards me.

"Especially you Lola. I've heard great things from your Mother. You may be ahead of your class in fact." He says with a smile then he gestures his arm out and opens the carriage doors for us to get in. Both me and Lola walk in and sit next to each other across from professor Fig. As we take flight to Hogwarts from England, after visiting my step-mother Tabitha."

" Fauna, How is it you became a witch? From what I've heard the Thorn family doesn't have any witches in the family." Professor Fig says curiously.

"That is correct, on my fathers side there are no witches. I am the only one on my father's side to become one. As my father always told me, I'm like my mother in many ways." I say excited. I glance over at Lola for a brief second and see her rolling her eyes and staring out the window. I feel bad but I give her space.

"That's quite incredible Fauna. I can't wait to see where you end up." Professor fig says before switching to talk to my sister Lola.

"Lola, Rumor has it that your mothers maiden name is Black. Is that true?" He asks in shock.

"Yes, but me and my Mother grew up away from them since she was SO in love with our father." Lola says, rolling her eyes and looking back out the window.

Professor Fig lets out a soft sigh. " Don't mind her too much Professor, she's usually like this. But yea my step mother was a Black but so was my mother. I've met one of my aunts but we've never met anyone on my step-mothers side of the family. It's very strange." I say in a bit of frustration.

"That is strange. Well Black is surely a rare name, but it's not uncommon for another family to have the same name." Professor Fig says rubbing his chin. All of a sudden, we hear the coach man say, "We're going to have to make an emergency landing. One of the thestrals has taken ill."

Professor Fig nods to him and we start to make the landing. I thought the wobbling was normal. I had never been in a carriage like this before but maybe I was wrong. "You should be able to get to Hogwarts from here. Safe travels to you three." He says while tipping his hat and leaving to care for the sick animal.

"That poor thing" I say worried for the beast even though I wish I could see the creature. I've heard remarkable things about thestrals. Professor Fig looks around us and says, " Ah, we are in the North Hogwarts region it seems. I know our way from here. We should make it in time or the sorting ceremony if we are quick." The three of us make our way to the castle. As we walk in, Professor Fig changes us into the school uniforms as he points to where we are supposed to go. We arrive at Hogwarts, as we rush in professor Fig leads us to the great hall where the sorting ceremony is starting. Professor Fig leaves us with the rest of the students. After some of our class mates get sorted, my sister Lola's name gets called and she looks like a nervous wreck. I'm worried for her. My mind races for her. "Slytherin!" says the sorting hat as i watch a brief smile appear on her face fallowed by a sigh of relif. That makes me happy. I dont think it matters what house were in as long as it dosnt tear us apart. My name is Last to be called. As i walk up to the stool and sit infront of everyone, i take a deep breath trying not to overthink or stress myself out. I shut my eyes tight as the hat is placed on my head. "Ravenclaw!" I hear the hat yell. I opened my eyes in a bit of shock. If i'm honest i was hoping to be a Hufflepuff like my older brother Caspian. Might be for the better. I can only imagine the trouble we would be in. I look for Lola and Caspian as I walk to the Ravenclaw table. I spot neither of them.The next day after my first day of classes,I go down to the stairs to the Hufflepuff common room to try and find my brother. He left me a note at breakfast this morning saying he wanted to show me something. Caspian jumos out of the corner of my eye and scares me. " Caspian! Dont scare me like that i could have hit you!" I say taking a deep beath. Hes laughing himself silly. As per usual. "Oh come on lil sis you have to admit it was a little funny." He said with a smirk on his face. I just roll my eyes at him. I put my hands on my hips and say, "So what was it you were so desprete to show me Cas?"
