"Platoon three, good morning!" Trumpets sound throughout the room in attempt to wake us up.
"Platoon three, good morning!" We all shout repeatedly as some went to open the curtains at the windows while others made their beds. "Platoon three,  good morning!"

We were told during breakfast that our duties would begin later than usual today, since another unit will be arriving today, so we all had to be up and ready before any of our duties could start.

This was of course an opportunity for the guy yesterday who I later learned to be Hwang Jang-soo, to torment and slap around some of the us that he chose to take advantage of.

He put all put in a squat position with our arms out and a helmet on top as punishment for whoever 'took' Sergeant Lee Jeong-su's lotion from his locker.

"So who was it then?" Jang-soo questions, loudly crunching on his cheese puffs as he spoke. "Who's the grunt that just stole the lotion from sergeant Lee Jeong-su?" he asks. "We can stay as long as it takes until I get an answer," he raises an eyebrow.

"Am I surrounded by thieves?" Sergeant Lee says not taking his eyes off his book. "A bottle of lotion doesn't even cost that much," He looks up at us all to reveal his face mask making Jang-soo lightly chuckle.

"Lee Se-jun?" Jang-soo turns to accusing each soldier.
"Private Lee Se-jun, sir! I didn't take it, sir!" He pants weakly.

"Hyeon-ju, cute ass," Jang-soo stares as a couple of his goons laugh. He stands up walking towards me,
"Was it you?" His face quickly becomes serious as he bends down to look me in the eyes.
"I didn't take it, sir!" I dryly reply refusing to make eye contact with him.
"Mhm sure you didn't," He stands upright again.
He moves on to interrogate another, "Cho Suk-bong?"
"I swear, I didn't take it sir!" Suk-bong grunts in pain.

"Just open your lockers," Hwang Jang-soo orders in frustration.
I turn around and slowly walk to my locker emptying all I have inside.

"Oh, Jun-ho," He notices the letters that had come from Jun-ho's locker.
"Private Ahn Jun-ho," He looked lifeless but also a bit fearful about what Jang-soo was about to say.
"Love letters?" Jang-soo questions.
"They're from my mother, sir,"
"All of them?"
"Yes, all, sir." Jun-ho nods.
"Why didn't you open any of them?" Jang-soo asks him. "Jun-ho you're an ungrateful son," He begins to open the letter with sarcasm oozing out of his voice.
"My dear son, Jun-ho,
Jun-ho, I'm writing to you again with concern. I hope the training isn't too difficult. Do you eat and sleep well? I feel bad that there's nothing I can do while you're there. I know you're in the army now, but I sometimes forget you're gone, and I cook extra servings for you two." He reads.
"You 'two'?" Jang-soo repeats questioning what he's just read. "Isn't it supposed to be T-O-O?" He scoffs. "Anyway... I got a 50,000 won raise at my new workplace. Thanks to that, Su-jin and I are able to have chicken two times a month now. I'll save up so you'll be able to eat whatever you want once you come back for a visit, From your loving mother." He finishes looking back up at Jun-ho.
"Pfft, this is so fucking touching. Your mother got a 50,000 won raise. What is this? Are you a loser?" He chuckles.

Jun-ho couldn't bring himself to even make eye contact with Jang-soo.
"No sir," His eyes were glued to the ground.
"Hmm, or then she is?" Jang-soo mocks him.
"Can you please stop, sir?" He begs.
"What," Jang-soo scoffs as the two of them hold a strong gaze as Jun-ho didn't dare say another word.
"Bring me a rifle." Jang-soo orders. "I'll just shoot this bastard and become a deserter." Everyone remained silent. "Bring it to me, you asshole!" He yells but he soon stopped when he realised that Captain Park Beom-gu had entered.
Jang-soo quickly straightens up and salutes him standing to the side.
