As the school day came to an end, I found myself waiting in the parking lot for Selina, like a character in an unfolding story, I had become entangled in her enigmatic world.

When she arrived, she signaled for me to walk with her into the dense forest that surrounded our school.

I hesitated for a moment as Selina gestured for me to follow her into the forest once more.

The sun shone brightly above us, its warm rays filtering through the leaves and casting intricate patterns on the forest floor.

We ventured deeper into the woods, and I couldn't help but feel both apprehensive and intrigued by the journey we were embarking on.

Selina, noticing my hesitation, broke the silence.

"I can offer you a lift,"

she said, her voice soothing. "We'll get to the mountain peak faster that way."

Her offer caught me off guard, and I felt a mix of reluctance and curiosity.

Why did she want to take me there?

With a sudden burst of speed, Selina grabbed my hand, and we were off.

The world became a blur of colors and sensations as she rushed through the forest with supernatural speed.

I barely had time to process the journey before we reached the mountain peak, the wind rushing past us as we stood on the edge.

I looked down, my breath catching at the breathtaking view below.

The town of Whisbrook sprawled out like a miniature model, the people and buildings reduced to tiny specks.

The sun bathed everything in a warm, golden glow, and I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of it all.

Selina stood beside me, her presence calming yet enigmatic.

"So... what do you want to know?" she asked, her voice carrying a weight of ancient wisdom.

I turned to her, the weight of my questions pressing on my chest.

"Everything," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.

The revelations  hung in the air like a lingering mist, settling into my mind like pieces of a puzzle finally falling into place.

Vampires, creatures of the night, had existed for far longer than the pages of history could record.

Selina's words echoed in my ears, revealing the global presence of these supernatural beings.

In every culture, they manifested differently – ghosts, succubi, creatures that haunted the shadows.

Suddenly, the world seemed both infinitely larger and more interconnected.

"It all makes sense now," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

"The legends, the folklore... it's all based on some form of truth."

Selina nodded, her eyes holding the weight of centuries. "Yep. Humanity has always had a fascination with the supernatural, and entities... ghosts, have been entwined with our history for millennia."

"So, uh... why did you find it hard to... resist me?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

Selina hesitated for a moment, her eyes searching mine.

"Every person's blood carries a unique essence, a sort of signature that reflects their character and purity. The purer the person, the purer their blood. And for a vampire, pure blood is... irresistible. It's not just about physical purity but also the purity of the soul."

I absorbed her words, realizing the complexity of the supernatural world I had stumbled into. "But you don't... suck... blood, right?"

A soft smile touched Selina's lips, a mixture of amusement and sadness. "No, we're not evil. We're just beings trying to coexist in a world that don't understand us. My family has never harmed humans, at least from what I know... We just feed on animal blood to sustain ourselves, trying to avoid the darkness that consumes most of our kind."

I nodded, a newfound respect blossoming within me for Selina and her family. "How did it happen? How long ago were you turned?"

Selina's eyes darkened with a mixture of sorrow and acceptance. "I was turned a few years ago. I was a foster child... It's complicated."

As Selina shared her story, her eyes reflected a myriad of emotions – from gratitude to pain, from acceptance to longing. The story of her transformation into a vampire began with a tale of a family, shattered by tragedy.

"I was just a foster child," Selina began, her voice carrying the weight of her memories.

"I'd lost my parents in a terrible incident, and there was no one to look after me. That's when Cassius Hale, my adopted father, came into my life."

I listened intently, my heart aching for the young girl she must have been at the time.

Losing both parents and becoming a foster child in the wake of a terrible tragedy was an unimaginable burden for anyone to bear.

"Cassius Hale adopted me," she continued, her eyes distant.

"He showed me a world I could never have imagined. He cared for me when no one else would. He made a decision that would change my life forever. He turned me into a vampire."

The gravity of her words settled upon me, the realization of the significance of that decision.

Her transformation was both a gift and a curse, a second chance at life that came at a high cost.

I couldn't help but feel a profound connection to her as she spoke.

"I owe my life to him," Selina admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

"In a way, he gave me another chance at life when I had nothing left. But it also means I can never truly be human again, and I must keep the secret of what I am hidden from the world."

I understood the complexity of her situation, the dual nature of her existence, the gratitude she felt toward Cassius Hale, her adopted father, and the longing for a life that would forever be out of reach.

In her story, I saw parallels with my own life, the loss of my father,

- and the search for something that could fill the void...
