Chapter 3- Water

A year had past by peacefully. Being old enough to leave now, Elizabeth had decided to do good with her life. She worked a part time job to be able to afford rent, and volunteered part time at the homeless shelter.

Hands were swarming around Elizabeth. They reached for her, wanting food and drink. Some of them wanted to pet Mini, who was chilling on Elizabeth's shoulder. After a year of volunteering here, Elizabeth had started to know some of the guests very well. However, new people did come and go everyday.

"Hello, Elizabeth." An old woman, with gray, messy and tangled hair said in her croaky, worn out
voice.

"Hello, Mrs Green," Elizabeth responded and handed the woman a cup of water and a bowl of soup.

"Thank you dear." Mrs Green took a spoonful of the soup and blew on it to cool it down.

Elizabeth wanted to say something to the woman, but before she could an impatient guest yelled across the room at her.

By the time Elizabeth finished at the shelter she was exhausted. Mini had decided to vanish back into the stars for the time being, leaving Elizabeth on her own. On her walk home, the heavens started to pour down on her. She looked up at the sky, letting the rain hit her face.  A smile rose up on her mouth. She loved the rain, it was only made better lately because she had Mini by her side. Mini had a skill which made the water dance, and Elizabeth loved that. Under Mini's guidance, she'd been trying to learn how to control the element as well.

The walk home included cutting through a dodgy alleyway. It had gotten rather dark on her walk and it was beginning to grow rather cold. She held her arms around her body, trying to cover herself up as she walked. Without Mini by her side, Elizabeth began to feel rather nervous.

She jumped as a loud 'bang' came from behind her. She turned around quickly, but there was no one there. As she turned back around, a tall man stood in front of her. She went to scream, but he placed his hand over her mouth to shut her up.

Elizabeth looked up at the man. She couldn't see his face clearly through his mask, but he had rough, overgrown eyebrows and brown eyes. She looked behind him, trying to calculate her escape, but his friends had made their way down the alley. One. Two. Three.

"Come quietly and you won't get hurt." She got told.

One of the man's friends walked up to her and pulled on a bit of her hair. She tried not to pay attention to him as he sniffed her hair.

"Blue hair." He said. "Strange." He moved the hair a little and noticed Elizabeth's birthmark behind her ear. "Well will you look at that. We've got one."

"Is that their symbol?" The first man asked.

"Yeah. That's it. We'll have to take this one to the boss."

With that, it was like the gang had gone into formation. A hard blow hit Elizabeth in her lower abdomen, making her buckle over and lose breath. Another punch came at her. The rain, which had previously been hammering down, suddenly froze in the air. The gang were taken off guard, giving Elizabeth chance to stand up and wipe away her tears.

Fear ran through Elizabeth's veins, fuelling her power as the rain drops all changed shapes and became needle sharp daggers. Her eyes turned red as they aimed at the gang.

"You have one warning." She said. "Leave." One of the men took the warning and made a break for it, but the others just laughed. This was a mistake. Elizabeth raised her hand, as if to warn again, and as she lowered it the razor sharp water slammed down onto the gang, cutting into them deeply.

The needles transformed back into normal rain drops as Elizabeth's eyes returned to normal. She looked around at what she had done as the water dripped down the men's cut up bodies. The rain seemed to be making the pools of blood look worse, spreading it out across the concrete floor.

Elizabeth breathed heavily as she looked around. She began to feel light headed and then the world began to blur.

She opened her eyes to find she was in her old care home with a cold cloth on her forehead. She recognised the shared living room. The smell of the old curtains and the feel of the sofa. She sat up and the cloth fell off her head. She rubbed her head, trying to remember what had happened before she blacked out.

A bunch of kids from the home were beginning to pile up in the door way, watching her before they fell through the door and surrounded her. Obviously they all had questions, and Elizabeth didn't have the answers. It became overwhelming very quickly and she began to cry.

"Okay, let the poor girl breathe." An adult's voice spoke over the kid's. The care worker sent them off to their rooms, giving Elizabeth some space. She had a man with her, one that Elizabeth didn't recognise. He was a young man, couldn't have been much older than his mid twenties. He had blonde hair and green eyes. Elizabeth turned slightly pink as she thought he was rather attractive.

"Hello, Elizabeth. My name is Morgan Crucks." He introduced himself. Elizabeth watched his every movement as he walked over and sat down next to her.

"You know who I am?" She asked him. She felt herself staring at the man.

"Of course I do, you interest me." He told her. She didn't know whether to be happy or scared. She shuffled away from him a little bit.

"Oh..." Was all she could say.

After some time talking, Elizabeth finally agreed to go over to Morgan's house. It was very large and rather beautiful. Three floors, six bedrooms and they each had an en suite bathroom. He had a massive lounge, a game room and even a cinema.

As Elizabeth stood, looking in awe at the building, Mini made her jump.

"This place doesn't seem right..." Mini said. Morgan spotted the creature and chuckled.

"Well then... Who are you?" He asked her, crouching down to Mini's level.

"Mini, from Gemini!" Mini said, feeling very proud of herself, but then she remembered that she didn't trust Morgan and backed up.

"Oh? Where's your sister? Gemi, isn't it?" He questioned. Mini went shy and hid behind Elizabeth's leg.

"I- I think she's with her half..." Mini squeaked out.

"Wait, who is Gemi?" Elizabeth asked. This question insulted Mini.

"Seriously? Lizzie, I have been your companion for how long now? And you still haven't realised that I am only half of Gemini?" She turned away. Elizabeth picked Mini up and began to apologise. The creature was being awkward for a moment, and then gave in and hugged her.
