My brain was slow on the uptake but once I got the idea in my head, I could see it very vividly. He truly was the Kraken, but the legends had never said that this destructive creature of the depths had a human form.
"Y- you're the Kraken? How does that work? You can look like a person- that is... Wow," my mind was all over the place, but my eyes chose that moment to latch onto the exposed skin of his throat.
The brown color of it was truly breathtaking. I had only seen foreigners with that skin tone, but they had been nowhere near as beautiful as this man was. His skin was almost glistening, while the water that clung to it continued to tease my mind's eye by running down and plinking onto the sculpted areas of his body.
"Seems you are a smart one. Yes, I have a human form. It developed as I aged, although I am not sure whether I was born as a human or an octopus. Only my parents know such things," he explained, while caressing the back of my head; still holding me to his chest.
I had also learned a few things about the Kraken in that little bit of detail he'd allotted me.
'Seems like he was not just made into existence, like the stories claim. He was born-,' my internal thoughts stopped there when it occurred to me just how large this creature was.
If he had been born- then just how big his parents?!?
"S-so, where are your parents? Am I supposed to meet them?" I asked frantically, lifting my head to look at him in those otherworldly bloodred eyes.
He looked confused before a broad smile stretched his lips and he laughed. That laugh hit my heart like a directed arrow. It was a deep and heavily throated laugh which literally screamed that this man did not laugh very often, which made me unconsciously want to hear it once more.
"I really do enjoy your random questions. An intriguing surface dweller indeed," his voice was so heavy, I physically shivered from hearing it. Odd as it was, there was not an ounce of fear from this man's interest in me. In fact, it almost pleased me that he continued to find me intriguing, as he put it.
"Why do you keep calling me that? How am I so?" I asked slowly.
His gaze washed over my face then settled to meet my own. There were no emotions to find within them but even so, they were the most expressive eyes I'd ever had the pleasure of seeing.
"You are not afraid. You meet my eyes head on. This situation is not normal, yet you walk the path with no resistance. The way you speak is soft but persistent, therefore there is no ignoring your presence. In conclusion, you certainly are an intriguing one," his voice rung with truth, and my skin flushed at once.
The Kraken was a charmer for sure.
Although, I doubted he was doing it purposely because he spoke curtly and straight to the point. This was something I was not used to. Perhaps it was due to my sheltered life within the walls of my home, but I quite liked this creature of the deep.
'Maybe I am unhinged,' I thought. Before noticing for the first time since I had fallen into the water, that I was relaxing in the strong arms of the Kraken.
"O- oh," I said shyly, while trying to push away from the Kraken's wide chest.
His skin was very warm despite us being in the cool, deep water. Even though, I was pushing with all my strength I was not moving an inch, while the beautiful male holding me only watched with a look of brief amusement.
"Can you let me go? Please?" I asked, and he let me go at once.
Floating on my own in the water now, I felt the coolness of it seeping into the places where I had been pressed against the Kraken's warm skin. Being in the water felt extremely good to me now.
