"Did I hear that right? I will be immortal?" My voice came out shakier than I was expecting it to, although this talk of immortality was highly shocking news.

His smile was pearly white and dazzling. I had to force myself to focus on the strong bridge of his nose because there was no way to speak clearly while both his lips and eyes served as hypnotizing weapons.

"Yes, you shall be immortal. There is no way your current body is prepared for living in the depths we shall be journeying into. The process of changing your entire body composition will be lengthy but its results should be enough to interest you," his voice was leveled and calm, which was a good thing for my panicking heart.

My mind was running through the possibilities of this being my latest reality but eventually I settled on some form of calm.

'At least he told me about what he was going to do to me before doing it. Unlike those trashy elders-'

I yet again found myself hating that my inner voice was right. This man was upfront about the fact that I needed to go through a change to live in his world, and that alone eased my mind. It was simply a matter of knowing he diclosed this with full honesty.

"Alright, before you do that. Would you tell me exactly how my body will be changed?" I watched his face as he listened to my request.

Surprisingly, he didn't look the least bit upset that I was questioning him. So, I took it as a good sign and waited for the minute it took him to answer me.

"Of course, we will have a full discussion on what will happen, and how it will be happening as well before I do anything. But that is something to be taken care of after we rest. You need some sleep," he smiled as he spoke, and once again my mind was at ease with the level of subtle intimacy between me and this man.

"Thank you," I said with a soft smile of my own.

He nodded his head slightly and turned to face the glowing wall. Lifting his hand, he ran his fingers against the thick webbing of a large mess of glowing purple vines. They jutted out of a cracked section of the wall and sprouted all over the place.

The plant glowed even brighter, and the wall rumbled lowly, before it caved in with a heavy groan. The wall seemed to crumble in on itself, yet there was no mess of rocks or anything. It just disappeared.

In its place was another cavern of sorts, in the corner against the far wall was a mess of thickly woven vines that glowed softly. Algae was growing in clusters on top of it and yet its fuzzy appearance only made it look comfortable.

The entire structure resembled a large bed, so I assumed this was where he wanted us to sleep. The walls of this inner cavern were also glowing about five shades lower than the ones outside, creating a subtly lit ambiance.

"We shall sleep here; the wall closes and opens very easily if you touch the plant that you see on the wall there. Are you okay if we stay here together? Or would you rather be alone? I can reside within the water if you prefer to be by yourself," his voice was yet again calm and steady.

My mind whirled about the options he'd given me just now because it hadn't occurred to me until now that we'd be laying down together; and despite the size of the bed- we'd be pressed together.

He was quite a large man.

"I don't think I'll sleep well here by myself. We can stay together," I said after a moment of contemplation.

"Alright then."

He took my hand and pulled me to the bed quickly. I let him and waited as he sat down and pulled me down to do the same beside him.
