"I can't believe she doesn't fancy me!"
"She's one person, Dia."
"Yeah, the one person that won't fall for her infamous charms. Kick to the ego, Casanova?"
"Everything I thought I knew about seduction is a lie!" Dia dramatically threw her arms in the air and flopped backwards, her head falling in Malia's lap. Malia snorted and gently ran a finger down the slope of her moping friend's nose,
"Move on from McKinnon, Di. She's just not interested."
"That is an alien concept to me!" Dia pouted.
"She thinks you're too full of yourself." Bailey shrugged from the other side of the sofa, "Maybe she's not into confident girls."
"It's hard not to be confident when everyone you've ever wanted has fallen at your feet," Juno said calmly and Malia nodded in agreement,
"You shouldn't change yourself, Dia, she's just not the girl for you."
"But she is though!" Dia sat up so abruptly that Malia barely had time to move her head out of the way before she ended up with a broken nose. "I can't stop thinking about her! It's a sign." she said decidedly.
"You're deluded."
"She does love a challenge."
"The challenge of matching nail polish to outfits perfectly, not bagging an angel with zero interest in me!" Dia slumped again and let her head hang off the back of the sofa. She didn't even look up when the Common Room door opened and the volume increased by a significant amount.
"Hey, boys."
"Mali! Tell Sirius that he's wrong and Evans will eventually fall desperately in love with me and we'll have seven children!" James whined upon entry, followed by a sniggering Sirius. Remus merely rolled his eyes and drifted over to Juno's armchair, leaning towards him and asking him quietly about the book he was reading. Malia, ignoring this with a barely-concealed smirk, raised an eyebrow at James.
"You wish for me to lie to you, JJ?" she asked seriously and Sirius barked out a laugh before strolling over to Bailey, pecking her lips and lifting her up so he could sit down where he was with her in his lap. She turned the same colour as her fuchsia jumper and hid her face in his neck.
"You are so cruel to me." James shook his head solemnly and Dia shuffled up to make space for him on the sofa, curling into Malia's side and resting her head on her chest. James frowned, his eyes darting from them to Bailey cuddled up to Sirius and over to Remus and Juno having a hushed conversation (heads very close to one another). "Why is everyone bloody coupled up except me!" He threw himself into the empty seat and crossed his arms.
"I'm bloody not!" Dia wailed and Malia rolled her eyes,
"Here we go again."
"Marlene McKinnon will not pay me one single modicum of attention."
