Alarm goes off the same,
But I'm not ready yet.
Can I just not
Deal with things today?
Escape
From phone calls,
Grave deadlines,
Helplessness.
I need a break, a breather.
Just go back to dreaming
Kaleidoscopes of fantasy.
Let me put on hold
Moments of anxiety
Nausea
Overwhelming fear of things.
Please, just today?
Quiet
Rest
Simple things to aspire.
Take refuge
Under covers, then
Vividly remember
Why you're here.
X number of reasons
Yank me out of my precious
Zzz's.
A/N: This short poem's structure is inspired by a chapter titled The Day from David Levithan's anthology book "The Realm of Possibilities". If you liked this, you'd love that better because he is such a talented man of words! :)
