For the next few weeks, nothing much happened. You began getting nervous around Edd and you never knew what to say around him, but you remember this happening to you a few years ago with someone else. You tried you best to not think about him.
You and Niya had plans this weekend, so you'd be out of the house. You, Niya, and her daughter, Vienna, we're going on a camping trip. It was mainly for Vienna. Her and her father had plans to go camping, but he canceled last minute. Niya decided to take her camping and wanted to see if you'd come along so it'd be more fun. You happily accepted.
You packed your things for the trip and waited outside for Niya to pick you up. You could've sworn you saw somebody walking back and forth in front of the house, but figured they may just be walking the neighborhood.
Speaking of houses, you still haven't gone back to your apartment. You were worried for Bob, but Edd has been going to your apartment to feed him and clean out his tank. You would just bring Bob to Edds, but you fear Edd's cat, Ringo, would eat him.
Soon, Niya arrived at Edd's house with Vienna. She parked her car and got out. She waited for Vienna to get out as well, though Vienna didn't wait for her. Vienna quickly rushes over to you. "Ms. Y/n!" she calls as she hugs you. You smile and hug her back. "Hello Vienna, how are you?" you ask with a smile.
"I'm good! Mommy said you're going on our trip with us!" Vienna says with a smile. Your smile grows. "Yes, I am." you say as you ruffle her hair. Niya walks over. "Alright Vienna, get back in the car now, we're just picking her up." she says. Vienna nods as she runs to the car.
You and Niya walk together to her car and you sit down in the passenger seat. You buckled your seat belt and looked at Niya. "Alright guys, you ready to hit the road?" She says. Vienna giggles. "Yes mommy!" she says. Niya smiles as pulls out the driveway. She began driving. As she drove, you noticed her nails. She must've gotten them done recently. They were a beautiful shade of red.
“So, have you started your new job yet?” You ask. Niya smiles nervously. “Yes, it's mainly from home, though.” She said. That made sense. You thought. Vienna hasn't started school yet. “I wish I could've kept the way we had things, but Vienna's father stopped paying child support and I haven't had the time to deal with it.” Niya said with a sigh. She had always relied on child support and other government funds to keep her and Vienna on their feet.
“We're about an hour away, Vee” Niya said as she glanced into her mirror. Vienna was asleep. She gave a soft smile and looked back at the road. Soon, you also fall asleep.
Your eyes slowly open as you feel the car come to a stop. You look around, you're at the camping grounds. Niya smiles and looks back at Vienna. “Wake up Hun, we're here.” she says as she steps out of the car. You grab your bag and get out of the car aswell and as Niya is getting the tent and other bags out of the trunk, you wake up Vienna.
“Vienna, we're here.” You say as you shake her gently. Her eyes slowly open. She looked around and smiled. “Yay!” she exclaims as she quickly unbuckles and exits the car. You help Niya with the bags and you all make your way to a nice spot to camp.
You explore for about before finding the perfect spot. It was winter, so it wasn't that grassy, but it was a on a small hill, just outside of the forest that allowed you to see over the city.
You help Niya set up the tent and firepit. As you did so, Vienna was on a log, watching. The tent was fairly easy to set up, the fire was a bit hard for you, but Niya got it easily.
As Niya cooked up dinner, you look at Vienna and walk over to Niya. “Vienna looks a bit bored, I was thinking of taking her in a walk if that's okay with you.” you say. Niya smiles and nods. “Thats a great idea, go for it, food should be ready in about thirty minutes.” Niya says with a small smile.
You missed and began walking with Vienna. You walked alongside a small spring and you watched as Vienna followed a butterfly. The two of you stop beside the spring, and Vienna crouches beside the edge of the spring, attempting to catch small fish with her hands.
“ Ms. Y/N? Do you know what mommy does for work? ” Vienna asks with soft smile. You look at her an crouch beside her. “ No, I don't, do you? ” You respond. Vienna shakes her head in response as she finally catches a small fish.
You look at the time, twenty minutes had already passed. “ Hey, Vee, how about we head back? Put the fish back in the water. ” You say. Vienna frowns, but does as you say. “ Bye bye little fishy. ” You hear her say.
When the two of you make it back to the camp, you see that Niya has already finished cooking. You sit down on the blanket Niya had laid out as she hands you your bowl of soup. You thanked her, an began eating.
After Vienna finished eating, she looked at Niya. “ Mommy! Can we roast marshmallows now? Pleaseeeee! ” she said enthusiastically. Niya chuckled softly. “ When everyone is done eating, Hun. ” She said. Vienna frowned, but she understood.
When everyone finished eating, Niya got out the bag of marshmallows, and thin metal beams, that probably have names, but I'm not looking that up right now. Niya stuck a marshmallow at the tip of one and handed it to Vienna. “ Be careful, dear. ” Niya says as she watches Vienna put her marshmallow over the fire.
You all spent about thirty minutes roasting marshmallows, and giggling about random things. Soon, it was Viennas bedtime. Though she tried to fight it, she ended up falling asleep. Niya carried her into the tent and covered her up in a blanket.
“ Hey, Y/N. How about we go on a walk? ” Niya says. You look at her, confused. “ What about Vienna? ” you say. Niya smiles and stands up. “ I won't be gone long, and plus, I won't go far, I'll be able to make it back in a jiffy. ” Niya responds. You were confused at her referring to just her coming back, but you figured she just made a small error in her words, no big deal.
“ I guess so, sure. ” you respond. You walk off with Niya, following her. The two of you chat as you walk, and you look at Niya with a smile. “ Thank you, Niya, I know I can trust you with anything. ” You say. Niya's smile, for a moment, seems to almost.. faulter? “ Of course, Y/n. ” she responds shortly after.
You walk ahead of Niya, only by a few feet, and you hear her stop walking. You turn around to look at her. “ You good, Niya? ” you ask. “ Yeah, yeah I'm good! ” Niya says with a smile. You nod, turn back around, and continue walking. You hear Niya walking shortly behind you, and at one point, she's right behind you.
You were just about to turn around when you felt an arm wrap around your face, followed by a hand pressing a cloth tightly over your mouth and nose. Your eyes widen, and you try kicking the person, clawing at their hand, anything you could think of, but othing worked. You fought against the person for a moment, but something made you stop. You saw the hand of the person, and that meant you saw their nails. Red nails.
Soon, your body starts giving into the lack of oxygen, and you pass out. Niya lets you fall to the ground, she was completely out of breath. She took out her phone, and called someone. You were just barely awake, unable to move, but you heard two familiar voices. Niya's.. and, Paul's?
The man from the park. You heard his voice from the phone.
“ Paul, come around with the car. She's unconscious.. or, mostly unconscious? ” you heard Niya say. You body was weak, and though you were trying your best, you couldn't get up. Your body soon gives in to exhaustion, and you pass out.
The last thing you remember was being carried into a car.
