"Don't know what's installed for me from here on but I never imagined a life without Malik and now I'll have to live without him, I wonder how it's going to be"

"Are you saying he sent you out of the house and by this time of the morning?" My father said as I was a crying mess right now

"Ka bari ta shiga cikin gida mama (let her come inside the house first)" I heard my mum say as she held my arm leading me into the house.

We settled down in the living room with my father, mother and brother, Khalifah.

"Yanzu ki gaya mana abun da ya faru (Now tell us what happened)" my father said

Deep down I'm still thinking of how to tell them about Malik's shameless act, but it's now or never, I rather not lie and they help find a solution for me

"It's okay, stop crying and tell us what he did this time around" my mum said

"He slept with Hafsah" I said as they all sighed

"That's not a new thing na" Khalifah said

"Mum you don't understand, I thought it was rape at first but mum, but Hafsah is giving in" I said

"What do you mean?" My dad asked

"I think Hafsah has given him her consent and they've just been deceiving me all this while" I said as I wiped my tears which couldn't stop pouring out

"You mean they've been cheating" my mum asked as I nodded

"Well I'm not surprised, you once said he gives her expensive gifts as apologies for whatever he does to her, it's possible she's letting all that get in her head and has now accepted him" My father said

"And Malik finally showed me his true colors today, he compared me to other women and told me if I was tired of him then I should go find another man" I said my mum engulfed me in a hug

"That's it, you're not going back to that marriage, since he said you should go look for another man it's clear he doesn't value you or respect your marriage, I'm going to meet his family later today and we'll sort out your divorce" my father said upset

"If you like when we're there open your mouth and say you don't want the divorce you're going to keep being a useless burden to him, do you think that man loves you, he probably just married you cause of pressure and so he could continue his stupid acts undercover" my father said again and this time I guess he must be angry with me

Who wouldn't after the way I've defended Malik and my marriage in the past and now coming to hear this, anyone would be annoyed by my behavior

"Umaima look" my mum said as she cupped my face to look at her

"The moment your man leaves you to meet another woman especially in terms of intimacy then that man doesn't value you, he doesn't respect your relationship and to him you're just another woman and the moment you forgive him and keep staying with him then you become useless, he'll do whatever he wants and know that if he comes back to you you'll still forgive you and even if he wanted to he'll no longer value you cause you're not special and he'll choose a woman with dignity over you anyday" my mum said and comparing this to my marriage she was right
