niki's pov ~

~ there she was, confidently walking her way down the corridor. the way her long hair fell down past her back, the way her lips curved up into a beautiful smile, the way her eyes sparkled so mesmerisingly. ~

she was oblivious to my existence, although i was completely fixed upon hers. we were never always like this, like strangers. we once were a couple. a couple who shared the most beautiful love and admiration for one another. there was once a time in my life, where she cherished me as much as i still cherish her now.

you might ask, what happened?

well, let me take you back a couple months...

june 2nd

it was a hot summers day. the heat was almost unbearable. it was break time at school, and so my friends and i decided to call dibs on the basketball court. as much as i hated melting within the summers heat, i couldn't let a degreed number stop me from playing my favourite sport, right?

"i'll race you!" one of my friends, jake, called out as he sprinted past me.

"prepare to lose!" i grinned, running after him.

we raced each other towards the basketball court beside the school building. because i was much taller than jake, i was still able to beat him considering he had a head start.

"you cheated," jake laughed, panting like mad once he finally caught up to me.

"nah, you're just slow," i teased, lightly nudging his arm.

the rest of our friends finally reached us. heeseung threw me the basketball since he knows i like to be the one to start off the game.

"same teams as last time?" jungwon suggested.

"sure, let's do it," jake replied, making his way over towards his defence position in front of the hoop.

we usually play in the same teams every time; team 1 being jake, heeseung, sunoo and i, team 2 being jay, sunghoon, and jungwon.

"let's go!" jay called out.

since i had ahold of the ball, i dribbled it over towards the opposite side of the court. heeseung was following up behind me, so i threw the ball over into his direction.

"come on, heeseung-hyung!" i exclaimed, watching as he urged on further towards the hoop.

he was only inches away from scoring us a point when all of a sudden, sunghoon smacked the ball out of his hands.

"yes, sunghoon-ah!" jay cheered.

sunghoon dribbled the ball back down towards the opposite end, before throwing it over towards jay who ran alongside him.
