CHANGED. A better story

CHAPTER SIX: PURO

We then hear footsteps approaching the room. I look and see a tall black Latex Wolf enter the room. He has a pretty big tail and also has a white skull mask on his face. He looks at us for a moment, before saying: "oh, I wasn't expecting guests. I'm sorry for the mess." And scratching the back of his head with his paw. "Heheh. That's ok. I'm guessing you're Puro?" I ask him. His ears rise and he focuses on me. "Heh, Yes I am! Who are you?" He asks politely. "I'm Colin. The Elder One told me to meet you. He said you were someone who would be a good protector for me." I say to him. He looks at me confused for a bit, but then his eyes open more and he says: "Ooh! You're a human aren't you? I see why you need protection then." He now seems more interested in me, as he walks towards me and Purr and sits down next to me. 

I'm just now realizing how tall he is, even if he's just sitting! Right now he's about two feet taller than me. Then out of nowhere he begins to touch my hair with his paw. His paw is soft and furry, and I feel his paw pads rub against my hair. "Um. What are you doing?" I ask nervously. "Sorry," He responds, "it's just that I've never actually seen a human before. I've only read about them in books, so you must understand that I'm pretty curious about you." He then notices the cuts I got on my hands and face, and how some of them are still bleeding. He touches one of my cuts that's bleeding and asks: "what is this?" "Um, that's blood." I say to him. He looks at the smear of blood on his finger, saying: "oh, yes I read about blood before. It's not good that it's coming out of you though. I'll bandage your wounds for you, hold on."

He then moves over to a corner of the room, where there's a box. He digs his hands in it and looks for something, probably a first aid kit. As he's looking around in the box I turn to Purr, who looks at Puro like he's a long time friend of hers. "Are you and Puro friends?" I ask her. She looks towards me and tilts her head. Puro overheard us and he says to me: "Yes we are friends! Me and Purr have been friends for a good while now. I recently just started to teach her English, and she's not doing too bad." He then goes and continues to dig through his box. I guess that explains how she understood some of what I was saying before. "Ok, how come she isn't like the others though? You know, like she doesn't want to infect me or whatever." I ask Puro. Puro leans back from the box and looks at me, saying: "oh I taught her to be like that. It started with me and her reading together, and the more we read the more she became interested in other forms of life. Eventually she didn't want to infect things anymore."

As he finishes speaking, he looks back in the box and says: "ah! I found it." He then pulls out a first aid kit, which looks a little old and the paint seems to be coming off. He walks over to me with it and takes out a roll of bandage. He then begins to wrap it around my forehead and hands. The way he does it is so careful and professional, you'd think he did this all the time. He finishes wrapping it and puts it away. "Is that better human?" He asks me. I smile at him and nod. "Good!" He exclaims, "anyways, how did you get here Colin? Humans haven't been alive for years." 

I look down to the floor, as if trying to remember everything that's happened to me so far. "Well, I woke up in a freezing tube, like the ones you'd see in Sci-Fi movies and stuff, and then I had to get the door in the room open with a pipe because it was jammed, and then I ran into this Latex Dog and had to run from it. I then found these clothes and met Purr, and then she lead me to her group of friends which tried to infect me, so I escaped by jumping through a window and running into a big black room where The Elder One was, and then he told me everything that had happened and why there are Latexes here, and that I should go to you so I can be protected. Now I'm just trying to find Dr. K so I can talk to him about letting me leave."

Puro and Purr look at me in silence, before Puro eventually says: "Sounds like you've had a long day Colin." "Yeah.. so, are you going to help me try to find Dr. K?" I ask him. Puro looks down for a moment, like this is a slightly difficult thing to do. He then looks back up to me and says: "I'll try to get you there, but if it's too dangerous then you must understand I can't let you go." I look at him for a moment. I then give a soft smile and say: "Thanks Puro." He smiles back at me,"You're welcome Colin. But we can't go now. You need to rest and heal a little bit, ok?" I nod at him understandingly, and then say: "Ok. So, what will we do? You know, like tomorrow." He gives a joyful expression to me and says: "there's lots of things we can do! We can read books. Play games. Talk. And I could introduce you to some more kind Latexes like me and Purr!" "Alright. Those sound great! I'd like to meet some new people." I say happily. I'm actually starting to enjoy this place. Maybe it won't be so bad from now on.
